Heart Funny Short Term Memory Stories let's share!

Let's share some of our stories about short term memory...some are very funny.

I'll start...
After I was able to drive again I drove to a place I drove at least thirty times before. Well I got to this place and found I didn't remember how to get home!! So after driving around for about twenty minutes I was in a panic and stooped and called my husband. I said I'm lost and can't find my way home!! He said OK what street signs or freeway signs do you see? I read him the only sign I could see and he said "honey that's a Billboard sign" And I said "well don't you know where that is?" DUH!!!

I have also put our phone in the freezer...I could hear it ring but couldn't find it. We had to laugh...and now call them "Duh moments" and I still have them.
So please share your funny stories it makes the short term memory less scary.

One of my best ones was losing a mug of coffee. I knew I'd made one, and my mug was missing... Husband found it the following day on a shelf in the cupboard under the stairs

lol..
lets see, I have made a chart, so as when taking prednisone, I have the amount each day written and I would cross off as I took them. Here I thought how clever, then if I forget if took it or not I can look to see if crossed off, till one day, I couldnt remember if taken it or not, but then I noticed not crossed off, but couldnt remember if maybe I just forgot to cross it off!!! ahhhhh

Now tonight I just bought a weekly medicine holder, so I can put each day of three neurontins in, then if I wonder if took one or not, I can see in that day...as long as remember what day it is!!

hugss all, sarah

Short term memory loss seems to come in waves for me, thankfully. My best and most humbling story which made me laugh at myself was when I...who always touted my ability to remember things put the jelly in the microwave instead of the fridge and fought valiantly to prove it had not been me.

Just yesterday I placed my bag of potato chips in the fridge and was shocked to find them there when I went to get some juice....No finger pointing from me I giggled at myself and put them where they belong...in my belly..heehee.

Yeah for laughter - it helps me a lot.

I'm new to this board, but I like it already I actually came on here to search for some answers (I'm 6 wks post-op unruptured clipping), but found this thread and had to comment.

Just today my friend took me to the grocery store and my husband called me on my cell. We talked, said our I love you's and see you in a little while, I rolled up the window instead of hanging up my phone . We got a great laugh from that! Susie

Crazy Helping Me Understand Life after my husbands aneurysm

Hi. I am new to the forum and am not sure how this all works but in jumping around the site, I think I may have a little bit of understanding.
My husband had a ruptured aneurysm in October 2008. He has been home since November 2008 and actually back at work since January 2009.
My problem is that he doesnt remember hardly any conversations we have and we seem to fight over this constantly. I say something and he acknowledges it but then a little while later when I bring it up, he denies that I said it. It is both frustrating and scary for me and he takes it very lightly, like there is no problem, but that only frustrates and scares me more.
In addition, I noticed that he has gone from conversing with me to work out situations to basically telling me that this is how it is and thats that.
I feel like he will never get back to the man I met and fell in love with and being that we are only married 2 years, this is freeking me out.
I would love some imput from those out that that may be living this or have lived it.
Thank you so much,
Karen

Default Ruptured Aneurysm and Memory loss/confusion

I feel the same way you do! My mother is recovering from a ruptured brain aneurysm that happend in August and she is home and doing relatively well except her memory loss. She talks about things that never happend and beleives they are real. When we correct her she gets defensive and mad because she thinks she is right. When my dad tries to give her her medicine, she questions him everytime like he is trying to poison her. She can't remember conversations after 5 minutes of having them. Yet, she is still the same old sweet, caring mother, just gets everything confused and can't remember. I hope this gets better with time. It's really sad to see her like this. IF you look at her, you'd think she's fine. She still has the same old instincts to clean up after herself, thinks the same things are funny, but just gets confused and aggitated when she tries to talk. Have your doctors said anything about yoru husband and his memory problems?

Default my short term memory loss

Hi everyone. These are some funny stories. Just a while back I put my purse in the frig and the milk in the cupboard... The other day I made my husband some coffee. He said..Thanks for the hot water honey!. I forgot to put the coffee in the coffee maker. I looked everywhere for my keys that morning and they were in my hand, looked for my glasses they were on the top of my head. My daughter laughs at me all the time. Scarey part is driving past the place i'm suppose to go. And forgetting where I'm going and Where I'm at. I guesss I shouldnt drive at this point in my life.
Share some more funny stories, I need the laugh and dont wanna feel alone in all this.
