Question Can anti-depressants help anxiety?

I was initially prescribed buspirone for my anxiety and it seemed to work, but when I started taking Pristiq for my chronic depression, I didn't seem to need the buspirone any longer. It has been months now and I still don't think I need to start taking buspirone again. Opinions?? Advice??

I'm also on an antidepressant, and also suffer from anxiety -- but I find also that I don't need the anxiety meds like I used to -- the antidepressant seems to take care of it.

I imagine it depends on WHICH antidepressant you take -- some work for anxiety better than others. I'm glad it's working for you -- the less medication we need to take, the better!

Best of luck and I hope it continues working! Hugs, Lee

I found that taking Celexa has also helped my anxiety

Smirk Thought I was imagining things

I thought I was just being my usual stubborn self and refusing to take the buspirone because I had convinced myself that I didn't need it. Thanks so much y'all for validating my experience!!!!!

BTW, this is the first time I've taken an SNRI. I had a terrible reaction to Wellbutrin, so it took me years to agree to try another anti-depressant.

Some can but others can raise anxiety in some cases. People often complain of raised anxiety on high doses of citalopram (60mg)
