Default crazy OCDs for 30 years...

have lo look at a bright light if it is in a room, close my right eye and breath out then close left eye and breath in. If I'm nervous it can last for hours.

Same thing when driving. Except i look in the mirror.

Breathing in and out on certain number counts.

when i was six i would have to touch my coat last with my right hand or i would go nuts.

I have been on so many medications, Zoloft right now,, and with the stress of my head injury, it gets worse.

Like i said, i wish the brain was a car engine and they could just take out the broken part and replace it.

I know there is nothing good associated with doing it. Not some lucky charm, just cant stop.

I've done a lot of reading..most current thinking is that checking something more than once was an important survival technique for early man, and in OCD it just goes haywire. but nervousness makes it worse

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy has been found to be very helpful for OC symptoms when used in combination with medication. Some people find the CBT helpful on its own.

There are some excellent articles and information in the Sticky at the top of the forum.
