Default Anxiety and How to Deal With It

Hi guys! I suffer from health related anxiety day to day and would like some ideas on how to beat it. I have always been the anxious type but I always have had control over it until last July, when my back was hit with a door and 2 days later I started to see double vision. Ever since then my anxiety and OCD has been out of control, specifically pertaining to concussions. I really need help (my mental health system is slow, but I have an appointment next week), and I was figuring that I could find helpful strategies and advice here. Nearly every day I have been suffering a panic attack. Today, an example would be moving my jaw from side to side very fast. I felt kinda off and I looked into the mirror and did it over and over again until I had to tell myself to stop. I am still experiencing fight or flight emotions right now. What are some strategies to stop intrusive/obsessive thoughts? Thank you for your time- railwayboi

One approach which can help with anxiety as well as OCD is Cognitive Behavourial Therapy (CBT).

Applying CBT methods has helped me with my anxiety and clinical depression.

You might find this information about CBT helpful Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) | OCD-UK.

Hi, Railwaybi! I take a small amount of Xanax. But distraction can help. Find something that requires your full attention. Listen to calming music, take deep breaths, and yes, learn through cognitive-behavioral therapy how to have more positive thoughts (and behaviors.)

My best friend is on Xanor and Zoloft but it makes her groggy. How was your appointment?

What my best friend does to calm herself down is read or write articles. (WE work from home).
Sometimes, it can help her.
