Default Can a hormone imbalance cause Anxiety

Yes!

as an example of how hormones can cause apparent mental illness/disorder symptoms research low testosterone in medical literature you will see depression, anxiety etc as symptoms! see an example below.

Dr AWAD Associate Professor of Psychiatry, University of Toronto
Director, Psychobiological Medicine Unit, Department of Psychiatry, Toronto Western Hospital states in this article at the Thyroid Foundation of Canada:

Treat the hormone imbalance to resolve the anxiety - dont just treat the symptom of anxiety. My sons debilitating anxiety and depression went away when he received HRT which included thyroid and testosteron medication to correct his hormone imbalance (low thyroid and low testosterone).
