--through Swanson, which is a company I buy from often and which I have no complaints about, but I admit this makes me a bit suspicious:

I know there've been discussions before about these kind of enzymatic supplements before, but I was asked about this by some symptomatic local people with ambiguous bloodwork (and certainly no gold standard diagnosis) and figured I'd get some real expert input.

There has been some discussion about using digestive enzymes for gluten before, maybe on OBT? The guru, IMO, about digestive enzymes is Karen DeFelice. She basically says that if you have celiac disease, digestive enzymes won't help you digest gluten. This was based on parents who tried various digestive enzymes, including the one that Swanson makes, on their children. However, if it's an gluten intolerance, digestive enzymes might help, and you just have to try it out to see if it works for you. Here is Karen's discussion on the topic:

And still, I have to believe it's a bad idea. We all know that gluten sensitivity can lead to celiacs, so does this drug just make you feel better while you are becoming celiac. I truthfully will probably never trust anything like this.
