Default Hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving...

I know that at times it is extremely hard to be thankful, more so when tragedy has touched our lives or we live with chronic illnessess. Caregivers at times have these same feelings, I was a caregiver to several family members, and now live with an illness. We often forget that life is not easy, that we have to struggle at times to survive the routine of daily living. We also must remember that small obstacles to us can be Mt Everest to some else.

This year as in most years past I will cook for the family, this means no one does anything but eat and enjoy being with the family. The 'cleaning' part can wait until the last person has gone home. I will go to bed after all has left and clean what is left the next morning.

So, I hope all of you are thankful for something, even a very small something, this year. I hope all of you do get to enjoy time with family, friends or just enjoying a peaceful day. I am so glad that all of you are still ALIVE and hope you have many turkey days to come.

Thanksgiving has always been my most favorite tradition. I think one reason is because of living so many years with an overwhelming desire to just end the struggling of life, I had to find a reason to keep going and get up every morning. I didn't have a choice, I had to be thankful for something in my life to keep living. Sometimes it would be just watching butterflies, doves, puppies playing or just feeling the sun or rain on my head, small but renewed life for the day.

I do hope you all find a reason to keep going, to find some tiny sliver of joy, hope and reason to continue the struggle of living. My heart would have an empty spot where you reside if you didn't decide to stay.

Happy Turkey Day and eat bunches of good food, and for once, eat that chocolate slice of cake, savor it, enjoy it and don't regret something you deserve!!

Love, Hugs, and Kisses to such special people.

Thank you for this thread...
I am thankful for wonderful kids and their significants...and a supportive, great DH. They're taking over this year, so I get to sit and enjoy as they attempt to get it all done...
What I'm most thankful for this year is how wonderfully the kids get along after the years of arguing and fighting...when they're young you wonder how they'll ever get along.

Then they grow up and realize how special they are to each other. They still tease one another, and shake their heads at how stupid some of the decisions they make are, but they have a true love for one another. Makes a girl tear up...

Aw Momma,

You're right. The glass is half full, not almost empty. Need to get my perspective on.

Heart

sending Thanksgiving Blessings your way too Momma
and to all the NT family

Did an "official" greeting on CFF too

The more we think of the things to be thankful for the more thankful we become
and that brings a ray of sunshine even when things are cloudy or stormy in our lives

With the year you've had, YOU'RE cooking?

I guess there is therapy in that. It's what you do, you take care of people, even when you need to be taken care of.

It's been a rough year at my camp too. I'm not cooking though, cuz half my pots and pans are in a storage unit, dh is 1200 miles away. I don't know where dd is going - her bf's family's, I guess.

I'm going to my sister's. Ds is staying at his house - dinner at my sister's is too early to suit him.

I always say that life is not a parade. There are three or four of them a year, so enjoy them. But the rest of it is scrubbing the floor and cleaning up some mess. If you're not paying attention to the messes, you're missing out on MOST of what life is.

Yep, this has been a tough one. But I learned more this year than in the last ten. I'll come away better than I was.
I felt like a tree in a wind storm and I found where I was weak, what would make me break, but also how to bend and be strong.

And you're right, there always is something to keep you going if you look for it. A flower, a song, a bird. Einstein said, "Coincidence is God's way of remaining annonymous." I don't think it's coincidence that just when you need it the most, some little thing like that comes for you.
