Default Tis the season for giving

This year my wife and I have decided to make a less fortunate child's Christmas a bit merrier. Our county has a program where children who meet a certain criteria, can make up a list of items they wish they could get for Xmas. This is a program I assume is everywhere in the country, but we decided to participate.

I just bought a home and a brand new boat, so we do not need to spend anything else, so why not make a childs dream come true for Xmas. We were never able to have children of our own, so this will be way cool. This year the way the economy is makes it much harder for people to be generous, but we are able to.

That's very nice jmiller. I assume you will be wrapping it in duct tape, right?

I just plucked a couple of tags off the "giving tree" at the grocery store. Our church does one also. I'm going to have two of my grandchildren help me do the shopping (I picked kids near to their ages).

Christmas can bring out the best in folks. We are lucky to be on the giving end, don't you think?

That's very nice of you to do this. I'm sure whoever you sponsor will really appreciate it.

We did something similar last Christmas except we sponsored senior citizens. It was fun to buy for them. Unfortunately, this year things are just too tight for me to even think about doing it again.

Let us know what you get for the kids. Have fun, too!

Well we have the list already, he wants a 26in bike, camping gear, fishing stuff, pants, and a jacket. Tuesday we will go and get a gift cert for a bike, and the 1 for the camping gear. The rest we already bought.

Sorry no duct tape, they told us they would wrap the gifts. Yes I am glad I can help.

JMiller - isn't that neat, a kid who wants a bike and fishing stuff, and not a video game?

After me own heart!

God bless you for giving.

I'd already forgotten (lol my memory!) but dh's company had a program like that last year. It was the most xmas shopping dh ever did.

There were a couple of families sponsored by the whole company, and all the employees just scratched off the gifts from the list as they put them in the bin. Dh really got into the spirit. I'd see him putting Hotwheels and Barbies and all kinds of stuff in the cart and ask who they were for "MY kids." He'd say.

I should ask him if they're doing that where he is now. We can't go hog wild this year but we can pitch in something.

Cool thanks to people like you!! that is sweet!!

We often find either the giving tree in our church, or at a store and try to do a few tags, even though we have five kids and Christmas is usually upping the credit bill for us.... but I do not like to skip giving to others too.

hugsss and thanks, sarah

Well the people came today to pick up the gifts. Bought a gift cert for a bike and helmet, 2 pr of jeans, cert for camping stuff, a tackle box with lures and other fishing gear and jacket, and of course a nice rod and reel combo.

Hope he will enjoy.

Well, if he doesn't enjoy, he deserves to be on the "naughty" list next year! I'll bet he'll be ecstatic and overcome with joy! It will no doubt be the Christmas he remembers for the rest of his life! And he gets to pick out his own bicycle? Wow! I do hope there's someone who can take him fishing to try out his new rod and reel.
