Default Dear Conor,

You are taking a lot of medicine, I think you would be very wise to get a second opinion with a fresh approach to your medications. It sounds to me as if your doctor may have prescribed medicines to counteract medicine effects. Our PD medicines are so powerful that they can make us feel worse at times instead of better. And since you seem to not get along with your doctor as well as you might, it is a very good idea to find a new doctor that you like, a doctor who will work with you.
Don't stick with a doctor who feels you have offended her. Make a new start with a new doctor. You are still young - I should know, I'm the same age as you - there is still a lot of life left in us somewhat aged ladies.
Good luck.

Default boston recommendation, sort of

hi conor,

this may not be helpful since this gentleman specializes in neuromuscular disease rather than movement disorders, but probably the most attentive, thoughtful, diligent, caring neurologist i have ever seen was Dr. Seward Rutkove at Beth israel Deaconess in Boston. I would recommend trying to see him even if all he ends up doing is recommending someone else - the recommendation he gave me for the city i was moving to when i left boston was excellent - i am sure he could recommend an excellent movement diisordr specialist in Boston if he felt a movement disorder specialist would be better suited than he to treat you.

Default More than just Parkinson's disease

I see you are being treated for Hypothyroidism as well. How long have you had this prooblem? Perhaps the problem is that addressing the two together is more than your present doctor is able to do unless he specializes in such matters.

Default I'd have to say....

get a second opinion from the best Movement Disorder Specialist you can find.
You are really on a "who's who" of drugs. I'm sure you are having some bad interactions there. Be prepared to possibly get worse before you get better. I think, however, an integrated approach to drug management, would do you a world of good.

IF none of the above works for you, you might want to consider a Deep Brain Stimulation screening.

tell us the area where you live and we can reccomend good MDS's nearby.
