Exclamation Facebook Apps Leak Private Info, Again

I don't use any apps there.

[With this spare key, a third party can access your profile, photographs, chat logs, comb through your account for personal information, and even pose as you and post messages and communicate with your friends.]

["Fortunately, these third-parties may not have realized their ability to access this information," Doshi wrote. "[But] we estimate that as of April 2011, close to 100,000 applications were enabling this leakage. We estimate that over the years, hundreds of thousands of applications may have inadvertently leaked millions of access tokens to third parties."]

I don't use apps there either. If anyone wants to stalk you there and has the tech ability, they can and do. I don't care, I have nothing to hide and I only talk to family there!!

Thanks, Jo..

I have denied permission to use any of my info. personal or public, and my photos cannot be shared, even with friends. there are ways to lock down your account so you dont see that precious photo of your new grandbaby as the next ad for pampers because you published it on a public space without guarding for permissions. Pampers can use your new baby photo and need not pay you a dime for it, since its a public photo. Scary huh?

Hi,
To some extent, by using the privacy settings we can avoid these type of things.

I believe it is that extra approval/Okay you give when you want to play or add an App that is part of this problem, if you don't approve it you can't play or get the App.

But I do suggest to check thru all your privacy settings also.

The Facebook Apps (applications)- like the games , and other add on things where you have to approve /OK it before you can play the game or use the applications.

I never use apps either because of security fears, not that any of them seem that useful to me anyway.
