Default New Kidney

Wow, we have a very young man at our church who is the minister of youth. He and his wife (early 20's) have been at the church for 3-4 years. When his wife was 9 weeks pregnant with their baby girl a few years ago she went into chronic renal failure. She was advised to abort the child but her and her husband refused. She has an adorable little girl now.

The doctors told her she would have the desease over the next 10-20 years and eventually need a kidney transplant or dialysis, and her life would certainly be progressively more difficult because of the desease. And she would not be able to have anymore children because of this desease because it would take her through her childbearing years.

So she started praying, asking God to progress this disease a lot faster! It sound weird but she knew how much better she would feel if she got a transplant and she had read that you can have more children with a transplanted kidney.

So God was answering her prayer, and she got on the transplant list which can be several years long. Suddenly we hear that in 2 weeks she's gonna have the transplant. One of the men that attends our church went and had a test done and found out he was a match.

Then she said her dad, who almost never travels with his job, had to travel the 2000 miles to the city were she was having the surgery...that week.

The transplant was done yesterday morning. The donor was done first of course. At some point (I haven't heard how this works) they removed both deseased kidneys from the recipient and put the new one in. Everyone if fine, the recipient has already been posting on FaceBook. Can you imagine the special relationship she and the donor will have now. They will be like sister and brother!

We serve such an amazing God!

What an amazing story! Thanks for sharing it with us. I believe there's a reason for everything and those folks were put together for this very cause.

Default Live Kidney Donation

Usually for live kidney donation they leave the diseased kidneys in situ as removing the kidney's is a significantly larger operation. You will find the donor has more discomfort post operatively than the lucky recipient.
I work in deceased donation- let's spare a thought this Christmas for the families around the world who have lost someone dear but who have given permission for organ donation to proceed and the thousands of lives that has saved!
These families have gifted life, sight and transformed lives of so many mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters and yet families sadly still often refuse when asked.
