Question need gluten-free bakeries & restaurants in MIAMI, FLORIDA

Hi all!

I'm looking to help a young man in Miami, Florida, who wants to try going gluten-free. He doesn't cook, and his mother doesn't speak English well, so she might have trouble following directions in recipes written in English.

What are names, addresses, & phone numbers of gluten-free bakeries & restaurants, in Miami, Florida?

Is there a list on this forum of g-f bakeries & restaurants, located by geographic areas?

What are links to any local groups in Miami, who also might have suggestions?

Thanks in advance. (P.S. I called 2 chambers of commerce in Miami, plus a Visitor Bureau, & they didn't have a clue about this!)

Confused still hunting for the elusive g-f bakery & restaurant in Miami area

Hi Al,

Thanks! I spoke with Norma, and she didn't know of any gluten-free bakeries. She gave me another lady's name, & phone number, (even further north), & I left a voice mail for Phyllis. If I get any positive info, I'll report back.

Norma did say that the Outback restaurant in her area does have a gluten-free menu, and P.F. Chang, a Chinese restaurant, does also (which I previously knew, from the Denver, CO P.F. Chang restaurants).

She recommended Whole Foods, which the young man already knows about, but I wanted him to experience fresh yummy gluten-free baked goods, rather than only dried out frozen ones!

Norma also said there's a store (but further north of Miami), that sells gluten-free frozen dinners (again--where's the fresh?), called Tunis.

You were right. It does seem like a glutenous wasteland, in the Miami area, just waiting for an entrepreneur to create a gluten-free restaurant &/or g-f bakery!!

Hi Al,

I got a callback from Phyllis!

Phyllis Kessler, emailed me this information, about eating gluten-free in Miami. Here are restaurants she told me about, in Miami, that have a full gluten-free menu available:

Restaurants that have full gluten free menus in them, in Miami, are:

--PF Chang (Chinese food)

--Carrabbas Italian

--Outback Steakhouse

--Bonefish Grill

New information I just learned today, from Phyllis!:

Phyllis also said that WHOLE FOODS health food stores have a seperate GLUTEN-FREE BAKE SHOP, right in their stores! (Not sure if this is true for every one of their stores or not).

Phyllis recommends ordering some foods from these following gluten-free websites.

www.glutensolutions.com overall great web site for GF foods (use code BOMBASTIC for 5% discount)

www.gilliansfoods.com (great bread crumbs and rolls)

www.glutenfreepantry.com (great bagels called Glutino)

www.foodsbygeorge.com (great pizza and brownies) --But avoid CHEESE & OTHER MILK PRODUCTS, if anyone has a milk protein sensitivity (to casein, whey, etc.)!!

Thanks again, Al. Networking from your helpful info, netted me the above good info!

You're welcome!!!

Thanks Carol! For Phylis' web site. I had their old address, but I found it didn't work when I went to find info for you!

I will update my Celiac Support Group Website List post haste! I know this list is on this site, but they yanked unlimited editing, so I can not update it. I do not have the time to be asking for Moderator help to update info here

There's also Pizza Fusion that has GF pizza: http://www.pizzafusion.com/MENUoutside.pdf

I ran across it from this blog:
