Hi,

I've seen almost all symptoms go over the past 3 and a half months now but every so often i get dizzy and have a buzzing or loss of hearing in one or both ears.

I went to my doctor regarding the dizzy spells and was basically told to put up with it for now and if it continues i'll get referred to a neurologist, which in the UK could take 6 months to a year, or longer.

I started googling about dizziness causes and stumbled across the epley manoeuvre for vertigo.

Has anyone ever tried this? I'm not even sure if i have vertigo and i'm a little apprehensive about trying it incase it makes things worse.

Im getting dizzy time to time aswell, iv lost my right ears hearing, no one can help me anymore, all i need is time.

Well do you have nausea or vomiting ? Hows your walking ?

No vomiting but i do feel nauseous when i get dizzy. Walking is generally ok but from time to time, i'll take a bit of a stumble into a door or something.

Sometimes the dizzy spells just come and other times it's after i've been walking.

Had the same thing with walking in first month which was hell, i actually was even literally falling, still getting dizzy time to time but it stops quickly.
Im not a doctor but i doubt that you have vertigo.

The Epley Maneuver is not traumatic except for allowing the therapist to move your body in unusual positions. It is like those marble mazes that have a knob on two sides. the therapist is trying to get the crystals (marble) to follow an path deep inside the ear. They can not see this path so they learn the moves to blindly try to move the crystals.

I am glad I don't deal with this symptom but if I did, I had access to one of the best practitioners. A PT named Judy worked at my PT's clinic. Judy worked with Dr Epley in Portland, OR as he was researching and developing the Maneuver. My PT says that Judy knows the Maneuver upside down and backwards. LOL Judy has since moved from Boise back to Portland .

If you have access to a Epley specialist, it is worth a try.

In the above article there is an interesting quote from Dr Epley,

Sounds like a doctor who understands the reason PCS is so misunderstood.

I've recently been having the epely maneuver done but without the help of the chair.

The therapist did a full assessment before determining that I would benefit. Her opinion was that I had BPPV (the displaced crystals - mark's analogy of marble is good). But on top of that she feels that there is also some structural damage to the nerve & neurological damage.

So the good news is that I have had improvements in my dizziness! But it did not happen overnight and I had a few days where i was worse than ever. That's not uncommon. I am now doing exercises to "desensitize" my brain's reaction to the dizziness. Retraining my brain to ignore the incorrect balance info.

All that to say, it's worth checking into.

I have done the epley manoeuvre myself at home and the results were amazing.I spent two days in bed ,could not get up as I just wanted to be sick all the time caused by the dizziness.my doctor told me to look on you tube to see how to carry out the procedure.it was simple to do myself.I've now had about two months dizzy free ,it's great.no more pills for me.
