Hey, it's Nick, aka nwsmith1984.
Just thought I'd drop in to inform you guys of my name change. I figured this name was a little more...fitting. LOL. Cheers, Nick

What happened: I was randomly assaulted from behind in June of 2011. I was knocked unconscious for an unknown amount of time (less than 30 minutes) and have no memory of the event. CT scan showed contusion and hematoma of the left frontal lobe. I spent 3 days in the hospital. Diagnosed with Post-Concussion Syndrome in September 2011. Currently have Medicaid, Medicare and SSI. Current symptoms: Brain fog, mild memory issues, problems with spontaneity, occasional spacing out, word finding difficulties, tinnitus in right ear and some other things that I can't explain. Life after the brain injury: 4 years after the injury, I'm engaged to my beautiful girlfriend of 5 years, I'm the CEO of my own business, Notorious Labs, I've taught myself how to program complex games and apps which is a feat I never thought I'd accomplish and now live a semi-normal life with very mild PCS symptoms. Slowly but surely regaining my life back. |

You want to joint my Space Cadet Corps?
It is only a part time Space Cadet Corp. Every day membership changes, we usually decide who qualifies sometimes before or just after breakfast. We have a vote. We don't do a raise of hands. All the fingers in the air get too confusing. It's a voice vote. We don't do a roll call. We don't want to confuse anybody. 'Ayes' are excluded. 'Nayes' are also excluded. If you can get together enough brain cells to say aye or nay, you do not qualify. Only the 'What's happening?' and 'Forget about me asking who you are, who am I?' or 'I already voted tomorrow' also counts as a valid new member. After lunch or a nap, some members wander away. We think they may have found some brain cells that figured out how to march in formation and got carried away with such a rare ability. But, then again, maybe they just got lost. Some of our members are brought back into the Corp when the kids coming home from school find them wandering. Since all of our members like to eat, we often can get them focused enough to make something for dinner. We are not too picky. Sometimes, the mother bird chews the food for us. Our members tend to get real mixed up at night. When they try to stare off into space, they can't find it because it is too dark. Someone tried to tell me that I have two minds, a right one and a left one. It helped me understand why I am so lost all the time, one mind wandered off and the other mind is out looking for it. So, who's minding the store? My alarm tells me that it is time to go take my medicine. If I don't, the lady in the pink robe will come ask me if I did. Now, if I can find my way down the stairs before it gets dark.

Female, 44 years old. Several concussions over the years - the first was most severe (kicked by horse), recovered well. Last 2 concussions Oct, 2009 and were two weeks apart. I attempted to return to working 12 hrs/wk (working from home), but was unsuccessful. Currently applying for medical disability. Primary Symptoms: dizziness, light & sound sensitivity, confusion, difficulty focusing attention, headaches, depression, exteme fatigue, some insomnia and occassional speach problems - stammer, halted speach as I try to find the word or thought and using incorrect words. Trouble focusing on conversation if there is other noise around - especially other conversations. . |

That....was funny. I just started a new anti-seizure medication that makes me walk around with a big smile on my face. I read that shortly after taking it and I almost peed myself.
