Default Multivitamin / B-complex question

I was wondering whether adding the following B-50 to my multivitamin regime would be a good idea or whether it's overkill. Here is the B-50 content (Nature's Harmony brand - not sure if this is standard):

Pantothenic Acid (is this the same as B5?) 100 mg
B1/Thiamine HCI 50 mg
B2/Riboflavin 50 mg
B3/Niacinamide 50 mg
B6 50 mg
Folate 1 mg
B12 75 mcg
Biotin 75 mcg
Choline 50 mg
Inositol 50 mg

My multivitamin (Genuine Health Multi + Daily Joy) contains the following B's:

B1/Thiamine HCI 25 mg
B2/Riboflavin 50 mg
B3/Niacinamide 25 mg
B5 25 mg
B6 25 mg
B12 1000 mcg
Folic acid 800 mcg
Biotin 25 mcg

Any thoughts? Also, is it better to take B vitamins earlier in the day?

greenfrog,

fyi, Notice that the B-50 has 50 mgs of most of the B's and a little more than 50 mcgs of B-12. This is a common B-50.

Your mulit-vitamin has far more B's that most multi's. It looks to be pretty good.

The question is not how much you are taking but rather whether your body is properly absorbing the B-12 and folic acid. This can only be determined by a blood test.

I think your Genuine Health multi is satisfactory and you don't really need the other.

For best absorption of the B12 in it, take on an empty stomach.

Most people feel best taking B-complex in the morning.
If you take it later, you may have to get up in the night to urinate, because excess B is eliminated this way. B-complex is also energizing for some, and may interfere with sleep, if taken late in the day.

We have found on the PN forum than really high intake of B6 may lead to numbness and tingling. This is even when only 50mg is taken daily. Not everyone gets this, but if you do that is a sign of your taking too much.
