BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads wore the team's National Hockey League affiliate Dallas Stars replica jerseys last weekend during the Pepsi "Future Stars" Jersey Auction and raised $12,020 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
A total $64,485 has been raised for the MDA over the six years that the Steelheads and Pepsi have partnered together putting on similar auctions.

Additionally, an Idaho Steelheads weekend attendance record of 11,015 fans were treated to an NHL atmosphere at Qwest Arena as the Dallas Stars provided their game day music, videos and goal horn as well as video-taped messages from the Dallas Ice Girls. The Steelheads opponents, the Alaska Aces, wore their NHL affiliate St. Louis Blues jerseys.

Fans had the opportunity to bid on their favorite players' jerseys, which started at $200 and could be bought outright for $1,500. A Lance Galbraith fan paid full price for his and the rest sold for between $300 to $600.

The two teams will wear the jerseys again in Alaska in early February to allow the Aces the opportunity to auction their Blues jerseys for charity. Idaho's winning bidders can pick up their jerseys following the Steelheads' return from Alaska by coming to the team's front office (4th Floor, Grove Hotel) any time after February 11th.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association of Idaho serves over 450 adults and children with neuromuscular diseases including ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). MDA works in this community to combat 43 neuromuscular diseases through basic and applied scientific investigation, local comprehensive programs of medical services and clinical care the Idaho Elks Center, a local children's summer camp in McCall, and widespread professional and public health education. As MDA does not receive any government or United Way funding, these critical services are financed through a variety of fundraising events attended by private and corporate donors. All funds raised in Idaho, stays in Idaho to serve families living with neuromuscular disease right here in your community.

The Event is going to be an indoor beach volleyball tournament unlike any you have ever experienced. On top of the non-stop volleyball action there will be food, prizes and lots of other free stuff.

The price to enter the tournament is set at 30 dollars per person, or 225 dollars per team!! (Team = 6-8 people)

Kari's Father was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease (aka. ALS - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). This is a horrible neuromuscular disease which causes the muscles to atrophy. At this time there is no cure for ALS and so this fundraiser is donating 100% of the proceeds to research.
