Default Ikea? does it have nice sturdy tables/desks

kid is redoing her room and needs a new table or desk for computer & school work.

looking online we like this one -
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S29820433
It looks like it should be sturdy and the adjustable legs would be great.

has anybody bought this or any of Ikea's desk/table items?
are they well made?

My son and I went to IKEA in Oakland, CA and bought some things for his apartment. They were great.

I looked at the table you chose ,but I don't see that as roomy enough for a computer and school work. Is it a laptop?

How about drawers and storage space?

I'd look for something with more usefulness and a sturdier appearance.

I'm working at my ikea desk right now! We also have an entertainment center and a file cabinet unit by them. Some people don't like it because it's made of MDF with veneers but I think Ikea is fairly sturdy and the entertainment center has actually been through 3 moves with no problems.

I love my desk - it's large and L shaped. Important to me because I need room for the monitor, printer, all the related computer stuff and stuff to spread out and work. It's easy to put together - I did the file cabinet/storage unit myself in a couple of hours.

I love IKEA. I buy all of the furniture for my kids from there.

IKEA!!!! You want to hear about my first experience with IKEA??

My husband and I were moving to this apartment 15 years ago. We wanted to buy all new furniture.

We heard of IKEA. We said "oh, it's a big place, all the way out in (whereever the heck it was), it was a long long drive.

We drive up to this HUGE place, and we go in and they give us these big bags to walk around in, and I'm going nuts, picking out this and that.

And we went to the cafeteria and I bought Logenberry juice ( I'll never forget the name of that juice). It was delicious.

So we go to the tables and chairs, and we pick up a beautiful table and 4 chairs, and they tell you to go downstairs and pick up your order. We said to ourselves, "Oh, they want us to take it home, we'll just ask to have it delivered".

Well, we get on line, and we see all the furniture is in pieces. Alan and I had no clue that you had to assemble this. We started laughing our heads off.

You should have seen us lugging this table top and some kind of saddle horse underneath the table thingees. And the chairs were completely unassembed.

I never laughed so hard.

We had a jeep at the time, so everything fit.

But after that, everything we bought had to come ASSEMBLED.

The table was so easy, just open the two saddle horse thingees, plop the table on it and VOILA!!!! I had my kitchen table.

I still have it., Not in my kitchen. I bought a regular full size kitchen set years later, but I still have the table top and the folded up saddle horse thingees (hiding behind my couch).

Their stuff definitely holds up well.

I'll be ready to go again sometime, we kind of were in a rush, wanted to get thru Portland before rush hour traffic got bad.

We did buy the desk/table , I was pretty sure we would get it - she has it all set up and assembled already.

Cheryl & there's other new stores popping up out there now too.
I don't mind driving at all but it takes the kid 2 hrs to get ready to go anywhere, so we never get going anywhere til afternoon.
Me I like to get going by 10 and be home by 2 or 3
