When your doctors ordered your gene testing for the HLA, did they ask for only a specific test or did they ask for HLA-A, B, C, DR, DQ, DP?

I've had only three done:
B27 negative
DQ 2 positive
DQ 8 negative

I know that different HLA genes can create/affect different diseases. DQ & DR are with Celiac. I'm in the process of getting information about which gene affects which disease.

I found this interesting because I can now go to my mother w/proof that her addison's disease is linked to my Celiac by the HLA DQ 2

When an individual presents with type 1A diabetes it indicates that they and their relatives have an increased risk of having or developing a series of autoimmune disorders(11). Celiac disease, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Addison’s disease and pernicious anemia are some of the most prominent associated diseases. For example approximately 1/20 patients with type 1 diabetes have celiac disease(13;14). Most of these patients are asymptomatic and the disorder is only discovered if anti-transglutaminase autoantibodies are measured and individuals with positive antibodies biopsied. In that the therapy for celiac disease, namely gluten avoidance, is highly effective, at the Barbara Davis Center we routinely screen all type 1 diabetic patients. We also screen for thyroid disease and for Addison’s disease (21-hydroxylase autoantibodies)(15).

I would love more info on DR and celiac. My ped ordered DR for oldest instead of DQ. She's DR 4,1 and he said thats proof positive she won't develop it. All I could find was something linking DR to RA, which makes me think it might be linked after all.

He ordered DR 2, 8 specifically on the lab order and it came back with the actual results.

Maybe he meant to order DQ 2 & 8 instead because those are the ones most common in Celiac - 95% have DQ2. I will review and see about the DR genes though.

I think he must have been mixed up, too. But he was adament that DR 2 and 8 were the "more specific" markers than DQ. In the office I just figured he must have access to the most current research. I wonder if thats why they recordd the specific genes, instead of just what he asked for? (I read the lab slip which said specifically DR 2 & DR8)
