Default Stumped again

We were on a roll! After removing xanthan gum and citric acid from my son's diet, he had 12 dry nights in a row! Until night 13. However, I've started using gluten-containing hand lotion on him (and me) at night. Our hands are so rough and chapped, and the coconut oil just wasn't doing it for us (although it feels great when first applied!). I need to make another trip to the nfs to look for the evening primrose oil as suggested by Mrs. D. In any case, could the topical gluten be the cause of our problem? Where's the pulling-hair-out sticky?

ETA: I didn't use the exact recipe for the coconut oil "Lotion", so don't let me discourage anyone else from trying it! I only used the coconut oil with a B-complex ground up in it!

Glad you did see some positive results with the enuresis though. That's always spirit lifting.

Definitely add some CoQ10 along with the EPO to the coconut. That should speed up healing.

CoQ10 comes in a powder or oil capsules. Make sure you get the oil capsules, they blend in a lot more easily

Did you see the post about coconut oil... I posted it either today or yesterday... on the ftt thread.

Also, it may have been soaking in very fast because you really need it.

Definitely get rid of the gluten cream.

I agree...dump any lotion with gluten... especially on our hands... hand to mouth happens a lot whether we realize it or not.

Glad that there's been some improvement!

Have you seen gluten free savonnerrie moisturizer? It is corn free. And obviously (as the name implies) gluten free. Not sure what else you are dealing with, but, its an easy idea (easy as in one more bottle you can just opem and use! With a corn allergy especially...anything that easy feels divine.) I'm assuming you're dealing with corn b/c of the xanthan and citric acid.

I just ordered some gluten free shea cream from beantreesoap.com
I don't know if it is on her website, but you can order just pure shea cream with or without essential or fragrance oils (all gluten free).
I have had good luck with everything from that source.

I don't know of any commercial brands off hand, but you could also order shea butter direct from soap making stores (if you were comfortable with their packaging procedures)
Good luck!

Thanks to all for helping me put this (wet/dry nights) into perspective! I was looking at it as a failure, and you pointed out that we're making progress!

I made a trip to our nfs today and obtained some evening primrose oil. Will add that to my coconut oil mixture, and see how it goes! Our hands get chapped (?) to the point of being painful, which is what drove me back to the gluten-containing lotion, but I know that is bad bad bad.

SB, I'm waiting for iherb.com or my local nfs to stock that gf lotion before I try it. Thanks for the tip.
