Default Need love songs!

My DH is a karoake nut. Two of his friends own a karoake DJ business and when they aren't going out to the karoake joints singing they are going to nursing homes or retirement homes doing their thing. So since my Mom lives in a retirment home they did a Christmas thing there for them. I have heard some of the musical groups that come there so I was really looking forward to them hearing some good singing! They were a hit. So now they are going to do an afternoon on Feb 15th. Of course the theme has to be love songs. So what were the love songs of that generation? My Mom is 83 and she is about average age. Since she grew up in a very conservative home, they didn't have a lot of love songs. Any songs they sang came out of the Baptist hymnal! I don't know if these guys can get a karoake disk by then and get some songs learned but it would be neat! Oh, my Mom wants my DH an I to sing 'Sunrise, sunset' as a duet!

My inlaws are of that generation, although my FIL has now passed on, but his favourite was "Forever and Ever".

DH and I loved the song from the first time we heard it, and it was the song we had played at our wedding.

There are many versions around, but my favourite by far is the one by Foster and Allen, Irish Folk singers. We have it here on CD, but I'm sure you'll be able to find it on UTube.

If you click on the 1930's or 1940's in this link, then scroll down, it lists the popular love songs of the times:

My mom is about that age, but she likes everything. I think she has 3 cd players now.

Try some Patsy Cline maybe (Crazy)?
Boogie woogie Bugle Boy
Tie a Yellow ribbon
You're sixteen (you're beautiful, and you're mine)
Knock Three times

Mom loved Elvis back in the day, but now she's more into country so I have no idea what to say about that.

Lady, your list rocks!
