Well, it sho nuff has been raining here all day...I did manage to clean out that rat's nest called my workshop. I wonder sometimes why the Good Lord put me here on top of the dirt and wouldn't I have been better to be pushin up daisies long time ago. Well, guess He knows better than an ole lady from the south.
Sometimes we seem to have more than we can carry in one load of laundry, and we seem to think we can jest cry in the coffee all day long. This ain't livin we moan, groan and tell anyone still long enough to listen. We git all bogged down in what we gotta do and what's left to be done, and git all jumpity and jippity cause its almost bed time...we still ain't done enough to show where a fly landed!! We think because the neighbor might knock on the door like in those commercials on tv, we should have a spit N shine house. Why in the name of a deer's antlers do we care? If people are comin to see you, why do they care how ya house looks...light candles fer Aunt Sindia's sake. If they comin to look at how clean ya house is...tell em to haul butt outta there and don't be making two trips to do it!! We have days on end where we worrying ourselves into feeling worse than we should cause this ain't done...guess what, it ain't gonna git done ifn ya worrying bout it all the time. Take a look around...people ain't got jobs, can't make their rent or mortgages, can't feed their families...and we worrying bout a danged house that has a lil bitty ole dirt on the floor or a lot. Its a danged good thing we live in an age of vaccuum cleaners and such...my great granni swept her dirt floors with a stick broom made from tree branches. My granni swept her yards with stick broom made from tree branches...now do you think they worried about a lil bit of dust...doubt it. They were more worried about whether some fool shot their cow thinking it a deer than the dirt floor. So stop worrying about a lil dust and start worrying bout living your life the way it was intended...with an illness that is debilitating. If you spend all day weakening up that coffee with ya whinin ya gonna miss out on the fun you can have. I for one ain't looking back and say...I didn't have fun but my danged house sho was spotless. I didn't take the chance to Ice skate cause I needed to git down those cob webs...you think the spider cares those webs are there? When that final moment comes and that last dab of ole dirt is throwed on ya grave it ain't gone make no uppence or tempance that you had a lil dirt in ya house. I can jest see it now...I'm lying still and cold celebratin in the clouds...and some dumbbutted fools speaks up and says...she kept that kitchen clean... While my friends are dancin a jig and sayin...she sho nuff lived and didn't give a owl's hoot for what anyone thought. She spent her days living, laughing and would involve you in a prank, then say it was your idea...yeah, she had some bad days sho nuff...but dust and cobwebs wasn't one of them...I know she ain't cried in no coffee cause it would hold wheel bearings together. Life is what it is...what we make of it depends on whether it is fun or dreary. (Smack), did I say it was going to be easy? I don't think I did...I said it depends on whether it is fun or dreary...and who makes it that way? YOU...nobody on top or pushin up weeds gonna change that for ya...it is one of the things YOU have to do for yourself!! Now...I got to pack...leaving Friday and I'm going to ice skate and consequences be hanged...bruises, bones heal and are forgotten....laughter and fun are remembered for a lifetime. Take care my lil sweets and don't worry bout cleaning this ole porch while I'm gone...just cover up, fluff ya pillows and enjoy the time!! |

I love reading your insightful thoughts momma, you truly have a talent for be able to get those thoughts on paper. as for pushing up daisies, no you are needed on this earth, your heart your insights and your ability to express them and you as a person, are needed. besides it would be lot cheaper and easier to use fertilizer

My Grandma kept a tidy home. But I remember her for her cookies, not her clean floors. Girl could bake, i'm sayin. I got her baking gene, thank goodness.
I also have a pineapple table cloth she crocheted for me and a couple afgans. My granddaughter looks amazed when I tell her I had a grandma, and I used to be a little girl wrapped up in those blankets just like I wrap her up now. I'm crocheting her a blanket and baking her cookies. Ain't nobody gonna love you or me more if they can see themselves in our kitchen floor, momma.
