Default I'm back!!!!!!

Our power went out Tuesday eve and it came back on about 2 PM today. I owe my life, and my pocket book to my daughter who lives here in town. They never lost power. So there were 5 people, two dogs, one cat and two snakes in their little two bedroom home for almost a week. I am so glad to be able to have a BM on my own commode, do my daily awful cleansing out of my clooged up nose in the privacy of my own home. If I want a snack, I just go to my kitchen! Well, I can't now cause I had to throw all food out except waht was in the pantry. I don't have to sleep on the couch every night and have to wait until my daughter is done watching TV which is usually 2 AM.

I am eternally gratefull for all the tree removal and power companies that came to us from as far away as Wisconsin. We had hotels that dropped their rates as low as $20 a night because they had almost the whole city staying in them. We had our local Best Buy, Cicis Pizza, Hooters and Fazolis provide a 52 in TV and all the food one could want to our local shelter So they could watch the Super Bowl. We had volunteers that went in daily to read to the kids in all the shelters. Our National Guard went out and transported people to the shelters and then back home again. It just makes you proud to be a part of the community.

I am glad to hear you are safe. Those ice storms looked awful on TV. Many people with damage homes and injuries themselves.

Sounds like a very special community you live in. It's good to hear stories of praise for a change. Those workers put in lots of hours and most people take it for granted.

I like my own privacy too. You get so used to it. But you were clean and warm and fed so that is the main thing. Stay cozy, safe and warm.

It was good that you could stay at your DD's, but also understand what it feels like to be in your own home w/your own things. Just glad your'e safe and back home where you belong. Thanks for checking in and letting us know your'e ok. Sending hugs!

Glad you're all okay, Doyd! Dang, it sure makes you realize how much we take for granted, doesn't it?

Hehe! I'm glad you have your privacy back!

Sheesh! It must be early: I sat here (before I read the rest of your sentence) and tried to think of what BM stood for. I mean, of all the acronyms that get used around here, that one really isn't a frontrunner.

Now you can get to bed before 2 a.m. And leave the door open when you feel like having a BM.

Glad you made it back...sounds like your community stepped up and came together to help one another...too bad it takes a disaster to remind us all of what makes this country so great...the people!
Now you need to refill your fridge!

Today my Moms retirement community got their power back on. They bought 2 generators last week but there was something wrong with the wiring in the 100 year old building and they could only get the power back on in the 'new part'. It's only 50 years old. So my Mom has lived with her best friend there. Poor Mom. She has only slept with Dad, he's been gone now for 10 years and she can now say she has shared a bed with another woman! But when she,and all the others in the 'old part', got their power back on they found out that their microwaves and TVs were blown! So now I will go internet shopping for her and get some good deals. Feel so sorry for the cleaning staff there. They have enough that each resident gets their apartment cleaned and basic linens washed weekly. So now they have to empty out and clean all the refrigerators and freezers and help the residents get an itemized list for insurance!
