Default Sleeping pills

Hello,

I'm having a very difficult time going to sleep and staying asleep.

I usually get 1.5 to 3 hrs. Then up for 2-3 hrs. Then sleep for 1.5 - 3. All day and all night.

I feel I need the 10 hrs I used to get before my PD got seriously bad.

PD since 2000 and DBS in 2007

Bradykinesia wakes me up - impossible to lay there uncomfortable - can't rearrange butt and hips. VERY creepy claustrophobic feeling in both legs prevents going back to sleep.

I have to take a tab of Sinemet 25/100 and wait for it to kick in before trying to get to sleep.

Which of the current Rx is best for this? Lunesta - AmbienCR?

Something else?

Thank you !!

Default Sinemet CR

actually, Sinemet CR is the best thing you can take. It will add 3-4 hours on average to your sleep cycle. Try to minimise napping also.

with your DBS I am surprised you are not sleeping better. What does your programmer say??
what meds are you on?
I have no experience wiith sleep aids. Most folks I know take Ambien CR though.

Sounds like Restless Leg Syndrome as well as PD. Mirapex is great for dispelling RLS.

My experience with Ambien was that it seemed to help at first and then seemed to make it impossible to sleep more than 1.5 hours at a time. Plus it made me do weird things in the middle of the night including eating ravenously, from the garbage if necessary. My sleep has improved hugely since I stopped taking Mirapex also....my doctor warned me when I started it "you will be up cleaning closets with this one...." Well, kind of. I basically didn't sleep for almost a decade.

Klonopin helps some and doen't seem to have very severe side effects. Since taking low dose naltrexone, sleep has improved. I do meditation and relaxation and breathing exercises - they help a lot.
