Default chiari & cervical stenosis aka DDD

Does anyone know of a correlation between the two disorders? I had Chiari repair first...10 months later had Stenosis repair. Several persons at the hospital stated that they frequently see patients who have both disorders and require surgical repair. DDD - Degenerative Disc Disease.

Sogirl, I don't know the answer to that, but I have Chiari, and spinal stenosis. My first six vertabrae are a mess.

I have a neurosurgeon appt this friday and it's a question that I intend to ask.

My NS said what we should be getting used to hearing by now I guess. He's nearly certain that the two conditions are connected, but doctor's have no idea yet the mechanism that causes the CM to damage the spinal cord.

He said he sees the two conditions together frequently.

This NS has passed me off to a pain management doctor. I went to him the first time yesterday, but won't be going back. I had to spend 45 minutes explaining to him what a Chiari Malformation was. He'd never heard of it.

Back to the telephone book for me here!!
