Default My 2yr old due in surgery on Thursday

My nearly 3 yr old is due to have the decompession next thurday (Were in the UK).
His consultant only called today to give us some date's. I have never spoken to someone this young who has had the surgery - although obviousley a 3yr old cannot use the internet

can anyone offer advice on how he will be after the surgery? - consultant mentioned a 5-10% chance of headaches for a few days afterwards etc

thanks

Default Update

Thought i would update as so many people read the original thread.

The little man had his surgery thrusday morning... the longest 4 1/2 hours of my life!!! (his surgeon said it was very very tight in there) after a day or so in intensive care he is back on the pediatric neuro ward and doing really really well.... he even managed fish fingers and jelly for dinner tonight. He dosn't seem to be bothered by bright lights/headachs etc...so i am hopefull he has come through unscathed.
Dr. are optimistic he can be up and about tomorrow and if he keeps going as well as he is he will be home monday/tuesday

I am new to this website and I am curious as to how your child is doing. My daughter has also had chiari decompression surgery. She ended up needed 2 surgeries, she is now 13 and is doing well. Needless to say, it sounds as if we dealt with the same type of circumstances. I hope all is well.
