Default Post-op from chiari

I had my decompression and Laminectomy surgery on Nov. 21, 2011. I have major pain in my neck and the headaches can be really bad sometimes. These are things I expect but I'v been having another symptom that worries me. I'v been feeling fluid move through my neck and up into my head through the left side. It sounds like water flushing through my head. It causes pressure behind my eyes and there's pain down the left side of my face and around my ear. Is this normal or should I try to get in to see my NS early? If it is normal then does anyone Know what it is or if it's dangerous if not checked? My husband and Kids are very supportive and are handling everything at home so I have plenty of time to rest and recover.

I would definately talk to your doctor don't wait. Don't take chances and don't be afraid to talk to your doctor if you have questions or problems . There is no such thing as normal with this everyone has a different recovery story because it can affect so many different parts of the brain. This symptom does sound like definate to call and have it checked out. I will keep you in my prayers I hope this helps.

My 13 yr old son had the same surgery on the very same day as you. He seemed to do well at first but now is having a terrible time with the headaches and low grade temp, inability to sleep well, and lack of appetite with nausea when he does eat. I took him to the family Dr. today and he said that he has a cold which may or not be causing these symptoms. He told me to call the neurosurgeon whose ni\urses told me that none of these symptoms have anything to do with the chiari and we should go to a headache clinic. I don't trust their opinion on this as everything I have researched shows all these sympotms are definately from the chiari. We have a 2nd opinion scheduled on the 15th and are considering going the long drive to a chiari specific institute if we are not given some answers. I also would appreciate some insight from anyone reading this. To the person starting this thread lets try to keep this updated so we can see how each other's recovery is going. Good Luck!
