Hello all, I am new here. I have been symptomatic for over 16 years. I was involved in a very intense car accident at the age of 9. I put on about 70 lbs within a few months after the car accident( with no change in diet or exercise) and also had the head aches, dizziness, nausea, and other symptoms affective right after this car accident. 16 years later I was just diagnosed in Feb. They saw a potential issue of my thyroid on my MRI I did blood work and it came back okay. I am requesting to get referred to a thyroid specialist to do further testing and I have decompression surgery scheduled May 5th. Has anyone experienced the unannounced weight gain when symptoms kicked in before? If so did decompression surgery help? Should I just do the decompression surgery and then worry about the thyroid? Maybe it will fix its self since there is the chance chiari is squishing the pituitary gland?
