Hi. My name is Shannon. I am new to this , so i hope i am doing this right. I am 44 yrs old and have been decompressed since 2001. I just found out i have basilar invagination and was wondering if any one else has this and how do they treat it. Any input would be good. Thanks, Shannon

Hey honey, I am so sorry to hear that you are suffering with this. I had decompression for Chiari in 2000, but I have no dealings with basilar invagination. I hope you can find the answers your seeking, and soon.

I am sure someone will be by who can help you, dont loose faith. Will be praying for you. Let us know how your doing, you wont be alone. If you need somewhere to vent, you just go on ahead and do it, ya hear?

God Bless you and Yours.

Dawn

Hi Shannon,

My suggestion would be to contact TCI - The Chiari Institute
they have the best Docs and a wonderful staff.

Their website contains a great deal of information and basilar invagination is listed under related conditions.
"What other conditions are related to Chiari malformation?
Other Chiari-related disorders treated at the Chiari Institute include basilar invagination (protrusion of the upper end of the spine into the skull); craniospinal instability; intracranial and intraspinal cysts; tumors of the cerebellum, brain stem and spinal cord; spina bifida; spinal cord tethering; hydrocephalus (a buildup of CSF in the cavities of the brain); and pseudotumor cerebri (chronically raised CSF pressure)."

Hope this is helpful and you find the answers you are seeking. It's always a difficult time when you are informed of health challenges. Try and take it one step at a time with lots of deep breaths!!
Blessings!
