Question post op sensitivity

I had decompression surgery for arnold chiari type ii about six years ago. Rhings much improved after surgery, but some issues still remain. I'm wondering if they are present in anyone else aftyer surgery.

I have a great sensitivity to light, noise, being touched and touching things. I tend to panic easily now, and my emotions seem to be fragile. I also suffer from daily neck pain, migraines in my face, electric shocks that vary in strength, confusion and an inability to recognize words or what people are saying at times. I have a lot more responsibilities this year than I last. I still have numbness in my neck, fingers, legs, chest and shoulders which have meant a few third degree burns unbenown to me. The numbness and being off balance is less after the operation. I also need to add that I have epilepsy, that increased dramatically after surgery.

Today has been a good day, but there are often times I wonder how I can keep going, and feel as if the pain runs my life. I suppose I'm just writing this because I wish I had the support I need, and friends who understood and didn't think everything was fine, just because it looks like it is.
thanks for reading this, Melinda.

Default Exactly.

Hi Melinda,

Your words really struck me - I feel the exact same way. I was just diagnosed with a Chiari last week, surgery is scheduled for the end of the month. It took me four years to get a diagnosis, and in that time I lost my health, my marriage, everything. I just hope that this surgery finally gives my some relief.

Just remember - you're not alone. Take care!

Christy
