Default Need help with my Rheumatoid Arthritis?

So glad I found this sight, I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis 3 years ago and I take mestinon when needed , now in the last couple of months my primary care feels I have RA, he did blood work but it showed negative but he said that is not unusual. I went to my neurologist the other day for my MG and she said she is very concerned and I looked ill and with all my symptoms: Fingers very swollen and painful and stiff, wrists painful, ankles swollen and painfull, toes painful and knees swollen and painful along with my elbows and shoulder, there are times in a day to try to stand and walk is unbearable, the pain is so horrific , and the use of hands become more and more limited. She feels it probably is RA but says there are other autoimmune and what ever it is it has taken over and is affecting my MG as well , in the meantime she says take Mobic and refered me to a Rheumaologist, which I cannot get in till December....My esr sed rate is 50....So here I am, I am scared as I don't want to go into a MG crisis, and Idon't know much about RA, is this normal, any help and suggestions and your advice would help me please.

Default Hi Whirlwind

So sorry you are going through all that. It is hard when dealing with more than one issue. I am glad you found Neuro Talk. There are some very nice people here. I don't have RA, but Osteo. I can understand the pain very well. If you have time, look up a physician called a physiatrist.
they sometimes think outside the box. There is help for RA, but I don't know the interactions of the medications, to your other condition. Try to take one day at a time. A pain specialist may be able to give you some relief. There is nothing wrong with taking that vicoden. You sound like you are truly hurting. Keep in touch and let me know what your doctors say. It would be better to get in quicker to the rumatologisit. Can your primary care doctor speed things along by calling? ginnie

Hi Whirlwind,

I don't know much about RA either; like Ginnie, I have OA—but severe along my entire spine, and beginning in other joints as well.

The best I can offer/suggest at this time is to research it as much as you can so you can go to your appt. prepared.

rheumatoid arthritis treatment

rheumatoid arthritis medications

In the meantime, perhaps there is something that your PCP can prescribe to help you function with the pain.

talk doctor pain

I hope others here may have some ideas for you as well.
