Default Living in Pain

Hi: I am have Osteoarthritis on my knee and painful on my lower back, my hip, my thigh 24 hours. I am looking for a good Dr. for low income, I have not been working since Oct., and no insurance. I have seen 4 med doctors. in San Diego. They just gave me the pain medications and no exam. The pain medications just reduced the pain. I spent so much money on acupunture. It did not help. I just had an MRI report. My Dr. never returned my call. He wanted me to come in so he charge me cash.

Thank you/Alex

Not knowing whether you may have already been down this road...

The type of doc. I'd look for is a rheumatologist. Many want a referral from a family or primary care doc. Yet... it doesn't hurt to call around and check with the individual doc's offices. They might also be willing to work out a payment plan.

I'd also check out the American Arthritis Foundation website, and particularly this link:

Alex, I'm sorry to here you,re in so much pain. I had Brain surgery in 2006. I was in extreme pain before and severe pain after. The pain medication help, but doesn't heal. I've found that a strong support system (family) and prayer helps. I try to do limited execise, take my vitamins as I've done for years. I hope that I haven't affended you, but I love the LORD JESUS and I know he is never for from me.

GOD Bless you and your family

You need to have a proper examination to see what is actually causing the pain. As your joints get inflamed the body reacts in all sorts of ways to combat it and to immobilise the joint.
This then affects how you move, what you can do, and of course what you stop doing.
Eventually you will stop doing anything.
See a clinical physiotherapist.
Aim to not rely solely on pain killers for treatment.
