Red face Guess I should share too

Well where to start. I suppose I should start as far back as I can remember. Well thats not far but from what I have been told and what I can remember. When I was in the second grade I can remember not wanting to do school work, and would rush through to get it done even though it wasn't done and I knew I would have to stay in during recess. Well I don't really think the teachers ever said anything really to my parents about my inability to stay focused. I know my report cards say that I couldn't stay on task or focused. Still to this day don't understand why nothing was done then. But anyhow that was just the start. I made it through elementary school quite easy. Didn't really have good grades but my mom attributed it all to my father. Boy was she ever wrong.

Well now in high school that was a different story. I still wasn't getting good grades, still attributed to my father, but also wasn't able to sit still or concentrate on what was being said. I always sat next to the window and always at the back of the room. I was always looking outside the window and usually was thinking about what I wanted to do after class or when I got home. Or would be watching the teachers outside doing what ever they were doing, alot of my classes were on the second and third floor near the parking lot. Im not sure if I chose the classes that I knew would be there or if that just happens to be where they always were. But it didn't bother me a bit. I could sit and watch the cars and see what was going on rather than listen to what I was supposed to be. I was rarely ever called on to answer questions. and when I was called I somehow managed to asnwer the questions correctly.

It wasn't until about 12 yrs ago that I was doing some research online and did a few symptom and analysis quizzes that popped up ADHD. So I did some more research on ADHD, and found that all the symptoms that I had been and currently experience were the exact same as those needed for a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD. So I took some more tests and printed the results. I took them to my Family Doctor who looked it over and said to me " You really think this is what you have rather than just the individual symptoms we have been treating all along. Such as Depression, anxiety, restless leg, and a slew of other things. I said yes. So he sent me to a Specialist who deals with ADD and ADHD. I spent several weeks being tested. Found the results to be somewhat shocking even though I already knew. It said I had severe ADHD and combined type. Meaning inattentive and hyperactive.

I have been on and off meds since then. I currently am on Adderall XR 25mg and Adderall 20 mg. Seems to help. I definatly see the difference when I miss a dose. Quite often at that. But getting better. I am still struggling with issues because I never developed a way to cope with them so am now struggling to find someone who can help me with these and give me ideas.

Anyhow this became quite long which some of my posts tend to do. But I am sure as I keep learning more and more about my issues and abilities things will get easier.

Many hugs and prayers to all and I wish you the best of luck in dealing with your struggles. Please feel free to message me if you would like to talk. I am pretty open about talking about what I have found.
