Default Hey everyone...remember me?

I was the cake decorator mom!

It has been a long while since I posted on Braintalk. I accidently came across Braintalk 2.

I stopped posting because I was going through depression and anxiety.

Mikey has come a long way and has the proper supports at school now. I think we were in preschool at the time I was posting. He is in a regular classroom and is pulled out for resource. His IEP is wonderful now and he has all the support he needs. The school district called me as the only parent for their special education action committee. I work on the school newsletter for special education for the whole district.

I am still doing cakes.

Michael (what we now call him) is playing piano and definately has perfect pitch. He is doing wonderful in his lessons. He even performs in front of an audience for recitals.

He is showing more and more signs of having tourettes disorder and not epilepsy (he was on Lamictal for about a year). He started having more motor tics over a year ago. Now it is a daily thing.

He has played soccer and is currently playing flag football.

His older sister graduated from High School and is now in college. She wants to be a pharmacist.

That's about all that is new. I probably won't be able to post all the time but I will drop in now and again to say hi. I got so overwhelmed with posting on multiple boards for cakes and such.

and for those of you who don't know me...I am the mother of a 6 year old son who was diagnosed with PDD-NOS. Actually, we have been given all three diagnosis on the spectrum depending on who you talk to. The Neurologist said Autistic Disorder, the Child Psychiatrist said Aspergers and the School System had someone come and diagnosed Michael with PDD-NOS. All I know is he is the same little sweet, funny, wonderful kid that is a blessing to my life.

Talking Howdy!

Hey, honey, welcome back! Send us some cake photos, we've been in serious withdrawal since you've been off the board! Everytime I see one of those FOOD NETWORK shows about killer cakes, I've thought about you and wondered how you folks have been doing, so give us an update on both YOU and Mr. Michael! We want to know more about how The Maestro of the Keys is doing. Any pix of the keyboard artist at work? We are also waiting, forks in hand, for the latest from CAKE WORLD! C'mon, give us some photos to make us whimper or drool, I dare ya'!!!

Talking Ohhhh, the CAKE FORCE was with you!

OMG!!!!! That is too totally cool!

I think I'll need to consider placing an order for a holiday cake. How well would one transport? How could you send it?

I'd think seriously about hosting a Christmas party for my whole in-law clan if I could show off a killer cake like that!

None of them bake, so I get rave reviews for my cheesecakes and pandoro around the holidays, along with the big cookie platters. Gotta' stop, I'm making myself hungry....

The head on Yoda is totally made out of chocolate. I found a giant Yoda PEZ container and made a food grade mold from it. I should have put more supports inside because he started sinking. We had his party at a place here that is a science museum and I got a chuckle out of the employees and their reaction. One of the workers I caught taking a picture with his camera phone telling his friend about this cool cake. It made me feel good.

MomOTwins - transporting would be no problem if the cake was a cake dummy. That means it is styrofoam inside. I don't know how places tranport cakes. I don't think this one would travel too well ... the head might roll.
One of my friends won one of the food network challenges. Her name was Rebecca Sutterby. We taught together in MO. The last one where Norm Davis won I have taken a class from him as well as one of the judges. I am a pion though in the cake world compared to these guys. I don't even have a shop and do it more or less as a hobby.

Mikey is up to the point of transposing on the keyboard in C, G, and F. It is nothing to him to do it. He has all the key sounds memorized. He definately plays by ear. He has been into Veggie Tales because he thinks the songs are so funny. He really loves humor. He acted them out at school and told everyone he was larry boy. He has his moments where he can be so adorable. Anyway, off the subject...he decided that he would figure out the music to the Theme song and figured it out. He has trouble in the composing aspect of his class.
