Default We got braces!!

Yesterday afternoon.... finnally got them put on.

What a nightmare dealing with the dentists... this took 8 months and 3 dentist to get to this point.
My insurance is supposed to cover 100%... but the first dentist said he was participating... but wasn't really .... asked for 4K when it came time to put them on
Second dentist said... 100% participating... but after doing impressions and getting ready to put them on asked for 2700. said... "insurance dosn't include appliances"

Not to mention that office had the meanest nastiest staff you could imagine.

Then I quickly found dentist 3. I figured if I had to pay through the nose, I could at least find an office that was nice.
Dentist 3 said 100% covered, including appliances and everything else.... evening and Saturday hours (wow) and ......really, really nice office staff.

See me in two years when dd gets them off and has that million dollar smile.
BTW She loves having them, thrilled to bits.. got full metal braces with a lovely colored wire, just in time for picture day.

I sympathize with you some dentists and orthodontis are a nightmare of arrogant, conceived, deceptive bunch. My two NT kids needed braces so after "interviewing" several we settled for one we thought "reasonable", "kid-friendly" but he was the worse of the lot, just more cunning in his deception. But I got an excellent dentist for my autistic boy and he stayed with him for about 20 years through the haze and crazy daze of drugs. We didn't have insurance for orthodoncy so it was expensive experience.

I recently went to the dentist and he said my only options were the Invisalign braces.

My teeth arent crooked, just spacy.

Invisaligns are SPENDY!

I've been looking around and you can actually BUY the brackets yourself!! (and for a full set its NOT that expensive)

I found some that are star shaped that Im going to get for when its time for me to actually get em on.

Im glad your daughter enjoys them! I always thought they looked cool myself

Im guessing she doesnt have much pain from them if she is enjoying them so much.

They dont have coloured braces in NZ??

They change the colors every time they're tightened here. Its the little rubber bands that keep the wires on that are colored.

They've had those around since I was a kid-- are you guys behind the times or WHAT??? :P

Yeah.. they are uncomfortable and she feels like she has stuff in her mouth all the time... but, they are braces!

The wire itself is purple, and from what I have heard you can get the little metal things in color too... lol
