IMHO - As infants have startle reflexes as they are still growing, Autism is a condition with neurologoical impairments and a reaction to noises is an automatic reaction as part of a safety response. Someones else may be able to give you better answers as how to control it.

I find my MS has caused certain neurological changes and noise and hearing and safety responses are more apparent. Ability to sense physical changes may be heightened.
