Can someone please point me in the right direction. My sons constipation issues are getting ugly. I want to try the GFCF diet.
Where can I find a detailed list of foods? Thanks! |

Talking About Curing Autism has some starting the diet info http://gfcf-diet.tacanow.org/ as well as GFCFdiet http://gfcfdiet.com/beginningthediet.htm
Pecanbread is the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) for autistic kids http://www.pecanbread.com/new/home1.html They've got some good "starting the diet" advice. SCD is slightly different from GFCF (more strict), but there's a lot of overlap. When my son has bouts of diarrhea, we revert to SCD to clear it up. Delphi forums has lists of GF foods. You do not have to join. You'll still have to read labels for dairy, but dairy must be clearly labeled on foods. ("Casein from cow's milk") Gluten does not have to be. Allergy laws require dairy and wheat to be clearly labeled, but not rye or barley, which also have gluten ("Natural flavors" sometimes). http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/mb/...cacheTag=x46-0 Information on specific companies: http://www.glutenfreeandbeyond.org/f...pic.php?t=2161 Sometimes it's easier to remember a couple of companies and know that there is nothing hidden on the label. Not that you can eat all of their foods, but if the label doesn't list it, it's not in there. Hope that helps.
