Default Please allow me to introduce myself.....

hi everyone!
I am very very new here, and I just wanted to drop a quick post about how I found this forum, why I am here, and who I am.

My name is Kim, but all my friends and family call me Kimmie (so, thats what I hope you all will feel free to call me also). I am the mom to four amazing children (as if my name didn't give that away, ha ha). Anthonee aka Tony is 21 and is an adult ADHD, Chrysayne is almost 20, and she is just a daddys girl....I don't see a place for that on these forums, darn shame, isn't it? , Jacob is 13 and he has been diagnosed with Asperger's since the third grade (which makes me a mom of an aspy...and I really am not a huge fan of the parents forums, sorry if that upsets anyone), and Brendon, who is 10 and is Albino. I Suffer from Chronic Pain, so I suppose that gives me a bit of a place in one of the forums also, but the main reason I am here is because of Paul (autisticmoose2).

The strangest thing happened today on my way to ebay, I logged in, and on the front main page was a book that I have never heard of (yup...you guessed it, it was Pauls newly published chapbook). When I clicked the link to take a look at it, I saw where he was from. Imagine how surprised and THRILLED to find out that he is from a town that is about 15 mins from me AT THE MOST!

I emailed him, wishing that I could buy his book, but knowing that with myself being on workers comp, and my husband just recently being laid off from a thankless job that he worked for 16 1/2 years, I couldn't afford the luxury....however, I just KNEW I had to talk to him. So I took the chance and emailed him through ebay. WOW was he quick to respond. (thanks Paul!)

Through reading his email, and going to a couple of links he sent me, one being where I could find some of his poetry, which, by the way is FANTASTIC, I asked about FARR and what it was about. He then directed me to this forum, and told me about two people who have been very good to him here, (no, I haven't contacted them yet, but I have seen your names!)
I guess I should feel out of place more than anyone, since it appears that MOST of the postings I have read have been from people with Aspergers, not parents of kids with it.

I hope to get to know everyone, and my goal is to get my son, Jacob, to create an account on here also, though, I am not sure if there is an age requirement or not.

I have always told Jacob that I wish that I could climb into that beautiful brain of his and just visit for awhile so that I could understand how he thinks, and how his amazing mind works, and believe me...HIS mind works like you wouldn't believe!
Anyhow....thats a quickie introduction to who I am, how I got here and what I am doing around your new board!

I look forward to getting to know you all and talking with everyone!

have a great one!

I can attest that you are a weirdo if you like, nothing dangerous though and definately not a stalker either.

Here I am! I tried to post here yesterday, but after reading the thread title, I couldn't stop thinking of the (Rolling Stones) tune....

"Please allow me to introduce myself....."
Then kept hearing music in my head with the "woooo woooo"

Anyhoo...RDI, yes, what can I say about RDI that I haven't already? There's not a human being anywhere that wouldn't benefit from it, the more you are on the autistic spectrum, the more you stand to benefit and gain cause you have bigger deficits in the areas RDI targets. Does that make sense? The site is www.rdiconnect.com , I find the site overwhelming with information, and, although the site is awesome at tons of theory, I found it impossible to actually implement the RDI program without a consultant, whoooo, is working with me at the moment more than Vince, because my aspergers makes it pretty hard for me to grasp the system for my autistic son. RDI is the reason, I have every dream back for Vince I had long since stopped dreaming years ago. I know with RDI, he will be his personal best in life (something loads of nt's aren't even being).

And a big cheers and congrats to Keg who is now liscenced to attest to Granola Liberal a wierdo, despite that being a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black. Oh yes I did!

Woops forgot to say...I think the donations you're going to do is the coolest thing in the world!!! Find out some 'tax' stuff so you know how to donate the money in a way that is best for your taxes and so you don't have the government take a lot of your sales money from your book.

And best...CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST SALE!!!!

Welcome! Kimmie, where is your 'offering' to protect you from Mili's verbosity?
Anyway, I am an old mom of an old child, being here since January 2000.
