Hashimotos' [underactive/non-functioning] as well. There are two sites that helped me understand these problems:
http://forums.about.com/n/pfx/forum....oid&redirCnt=1 And http://www.endocrineweb.com/ There are more good sites out there, if you need them, just ask! - j BTW? IF you have had any new issues crop up recently, or have had surgery[as have I]? Consider it all an assault to your body which is NOT normal. Like taking your pet to the vet? They start shedding during and afterwords to varying degrees, mostly due to how your body is reacting to all this stress. It's NOT the kind of stress needing meds tho, just good nutrition and supplements. They really can and do help a lot. I had major, invasive surgery [for another issue] two months ago, and I'm still 'losing' hair! Keep in mind that Graves is the flip side of Hashimoto's? [Which is what I have] Still what makes it all so hard to diagnose is that many symptoms are soo similar. I don't know IF hair will regrow? I DO know that I've had more than a 'couple' of surgeries in the last 4 years and lost lots of hair each time, only the new hair has come in GRAY? IF your hair is coming out in clumps or patches? Get thee to an endocrinologist for a first, second and/or third opinion ASAP! I'll bet there are other symptoms too. Make a list and get copies of what blood tests are ordered AND the results. You can learn lots from the tests, IF you know what you are being tested for, and with the help from the sites above, you will learn what should be tested. Medications and other treatments can and do help. It just takes a LONG time to get that first appointment! Don't give up. HOpe - j |

Hi leelee. I also have Graves Disease, and my hair fell out too. The good news is that it will grow back. I had my thyroid removed and now have a full head of hair again. Graves Disease can also be treated with medication. Talk about your fears with your doctor. He will point you in the right direction. Good luck and try not to worry too much
