greetings
We plan to travel to Kenya, where yellow fewer vacinnation is mandatory. The problem is that I have an autoimmune disorder, so vaccination may cause side effects. So I would be grateful if those of you also suffering from autoimmune desease can share their experiences with side effects caused by taking any kind of vaccinations Much appreciated |

I have taken a number of vaccinations and I do have an auto immune problem. In my case I would rather risk a vaccine, than trying to tackle something like yellow fever. These unusual diseases, we really don't have any immuninty to. If you have a weakened immune system the disease would be difficult on you. I am just a believer in the shots. Your PCP can tell you of the risk of that particular injection, or a disease specialist would know about that disease and its risks as well. Hope you have a great time going to a new continent. Good journey. ginnie

There are many vaccinations that autoimmune folks can take without consequence? But others that can be ...well.. problematic. Depends on the vaccines.
Such as Flu Vaccines? AI folks most likely can take and tolerate DEAD vaccines vs live ones. For other things you mite be 'shot for'? I'd first talk with your neurologist or immunologist or rheumatologist. GP's are far down the food chain in keeping up with these 'exotic' issues. IF IT were me? I'd ask as many questions as I can, and FIND OUT as much as I could and then decide to 'get shot' sooner rather than later? Get it overwith ASAP to avoid getting side effects out of the country....Not a desirable thing to have happen. I hope this helps? It's a hard set of decisions that must be made! 's - j Going to Kenya sounds like a life dream! I'm sort of jealous? Bring back heaps of photos, please? |
