I am not sure about that.
I do know that prednisone can negate any vaccine response rendering the vaccine useless. I think you should ask your doctor about this. I am having a difficult time finding a definitive answer to your question on the net today.

Just a hunch, but I would think its effect would be limited.....not entirely sure . Unless , of course, it is helping correct the autoimmune problem you suffer from. Then, you would have less antibodies related to your illness simply because the prednisone is calming/correcting/halting the disease/autoimmune process.
I was on it for about seven years for Lupus and there was never any confusion about other illnesses etc. This is just from personal experience...not scientific. |

thank you Mrs D and thank you Wovel Lady.
I read the links on vacsines.Mrs D. I have had the flu vacine for the past few years, and done OK with it. I spoke to my doctor some time ago re pnemonia vacsine and she said I had to stop the Methtrexare for 2 weeks in that case. And I guess it would be the same for flu vacine and Prednisone. I missed the flu vacine so far this year, but at this point, I feel so sick, I have to just go ahead with the recomended treatment. I made a little mistake when I posted this post. I was thinking about the ANA, but it was realy the test Lupus anticuagolant I neede to have done. I asked my rheumatologist, she said that the Prednisone would not effect this test. But I had the test done first, any way, and then started the Prednisone. Yes, Wovel Lady, I think you are right. And that is what I was thinking too. I am starting Prednisone to help the inflamation symptoms Thanks again . |
