I have Hashimoto for 19 years and since 2006 I haven't got a cold. Only in 2012 when I was pregnant. I have also noticed I'm allergic to several type of food. I don't know when I started developing these allergies but is becoming strange for me since I notice now very frequently more food that I can't eat.
Any ideas? Is the immunological system responsible of all of these pros and cons?
Any help would be appreciated I just have anecdotal evidence based on my body responses

I have nothing medical or scientific to offer, only personal experience. I have Celiac Disease and possible MS, and I suffer migraines on a daily basis. I have had food allergies for many years and it seems I discover a new food that I am allergic to every year. I am never sick or get a cold.

I make sure I eat whole foods and read all labels thoroughly and seldom dine out. Have you asked your doctor about an Epipen?

Hope this has helped. My friends and family always ask me, "What can you eat?" LOL I just explain that I can eat a lot of good foods, I just make sure the food I can eat is not contaminated with the harmful foods that my body no longer likes. LOL Most people don't understand.

I used to wonder that too until I read that cold symptoms are from our body's immune reaction to the pathogen and not from the virus itself so if you have a robust immune response it seems like you should have worse symptoms.

I have COPD and I never get sick either, go figure.

Interesting, I also almost never get colds. I would prefer them to my MMN though, which is autoimmune. It seems my immune system is over productive, destroying anything it can find, including my nerves.

I think these things can hit very differently. My friend who has autoimmune hepatitis, basically never gets sick and if she does it is just very brief. Myself I have super sensitive airways so the slightest cold puts me in bed with fevers and flus often lead to pneumonia.

When I had lupus alone, I felt that I seem to not get colds as easily as others.

Many years later, I was dx'd with Sj. Syndrome, although I had some slight symptoms of it much earlier.

With the Sj. Syndrome and the weird nasal dryness associated with it, I seem to be more prone to sinus infections. I think, although not positive, excessive nasal dryness, makes one more prone to irritation and therefore perhaps more vulnerable.

Washing my hands A LOT and eating correctly has been helpful for me.
