Default Worried

Hi everyone!
I really hope someone can help me as I have pushed all over the place for the last two years and for the majority of that time I have been in pain.
These are my symptoms.
Severe head pain on the left side of my head with migraine like symptoms. No medication will help what so ever. It's always the same place. My left side of my face swells.
My left eye waters. I have deteriorated vision in that eye in the last year. Also some inflammation was seem by the optometrist. He sent me for a brain scan and all it showed was my optical nerve in the left side wasn't sitting straight but he wasn't to worried at the moment. I feel a weird almost burning tingling pain that runs down my face but deep in my face. It kinda feels like a constant ringing. My eardrum feels the same almost like a throbbing pain behind my ear. My hearing is down in that ear.
I have a swelling in my neck all left side and armpit. That throb, ache and hurt. I was told they were fatty tissues after an ultra scan.
I had severe weakness in the left hand side of my body and can drop things. This does seem a little better now. I did see the neurologist who as soon as I sat down told me this was a common easily treatable migraine. He prescribed me sumatriptan which don't help at all. He said I presented signs of weakness on that side and my reflexes were brisk. But he wasn't overly concerned. I am really really forgetful which is just so not me.
Recently when the pain is really bad I now have been getting a pain in the top of my left foot not when I am sitting still but when I move my foot. It's so painful I have trouble walking. I am thinking it all must be nerve pain as a hot bath did help it for a while.
My CRP levels are high.
I have now been sent to rheumatoid arthritis consultant. Who I am waiting to see.
I have just lost 4 stone not through illness but by trying as I was convinced everyone just thought my symptoms were down to my weight. Like the swelling in my neck and armpit.
Please is there anyone out there that may have any idea what could be wrong as it is very depressing being in pain almost constantly. I do get the odd day where it isn't so bad.
Thank you

Hi carolinecutts

Welcome to NeuroTalk .

I am sorry to read about what you are experiencing.

A few thoughts:

The fact that your problems occur only on the left side of your body suggests a neurological problem to me. Can you see another neurologist for a second opinion and more testing? I doubt that your problems have anything to do with migraines (my partner sometimes gets them but her signs do not affect only one side of her body).

Elevated CRP can arise from an acute infection. When the infection is resolved CRP levels return to normal. Chronically elevated CRP can arise from auto-immune diseases with an inflammatory component but I don't know of any auto-immune disease which only affects one side of the body.

Best wishes.
