Default Derrick's Christmas Gifts to others

Hi I wanted to share how Derrick has been getting ready for christmas.

And his buying spree last night.

First because I didn't know if he would be approved for SSI or then if it would come in before Christmas. I had to budget him in my money for shopping for
his teachers, girlfriend and our family. So I had allowed $100.00 for the family, and I bought as much as I could early for the teachers and bus drivers.
And he bought a neat present for his girlfriend within the family money
last Saturday with his provider.
1. It is a beautiful pink box with a handle. That he decorated for her.
It has her name on the front. And then it has lots of other neat saying,
his provider helped him make sure that the words were spelled correctly.
Like: Love ya, young hippie, some other neat things.

Then a locking diary that I finally found at walgreens for 1.99 that took
forever to find. They don't seem to make them anymore. Thank goodness
they made them for christmas. And a kit of neat stickers and things.
Not sure what all else he had in there, oh a candy cane for sure.

He then got his weight training teacher, gym teacher and he is also one
of the coaches for special olympics a neat coffee mug that had a saying
about being late not counting towards cardio. It was a traveling mug,
this one we got last night, he paid his own money. It was much more
than we usually give, but he has had this gentlemen for 5 years. And
he has really helped him with balance things in weight training.

The aides at school, and wow, we buy for them all in his room. Got some
kind of lotions and bath gels. I found some really neat combos for a nice
price so I think in the end he gave out 11 of those. Wow, there are
4 regular aides in his room. Then his teacher, and the aide that he has
had for 4 years who is subbing for a regular teacher this year. He had
her for 2 weeks at the beginning of the year. And we are all hoping
that she might be back 2nd semester, but its not looking like it.

Then the substitute aide he had for 6 weeks, and the present aide he
has had right now. And it looks like he will have next semester.
Who had told him last week that she didn't need a gift because she hadn't
been there very long. And of course the nurse.

Then the two art teachers, one got a teacher ornament because we couldn't
find anything else. And the other got a M for his name ornament, it is
really neat. If there had been a R also I would have bought us one. They
were so neat.

And then the Computer teacher and her aide got snow globes. And of course
all got candy canes.

Then he had this really neat idea, and he made up some gift bags for
the cafeteria ladies, the custodians, the office and librian ladies. And then
is going to give any that are left over to his classmates to give to people
they want to if the teachers will let him.

The gift bags (53) have a candy cane, some chocolate candy snack size
bars, candy kiss. He decided the usually left out folks needed to know
they are appreciated. These gifts though he is going to have his class
help him give out. And unless he forgets the name, its going to be
from Ms. Wagner's Elf's.

We have one other gift at home to deliver, there is one person in the
kitchen at school that is a family friend. Who also takes a day at his
grandmothers. And he bought her a nice I think its a bear or dog with
a cranberry lotion.

My son loves christmas as much as me. I always knew one of my sons
would do the giving of a gift to others like I loved to do. But he outdoes
how I used to do it.

I didn't realize why that one was getting so long, sorry for the short sentences. I thought I'd tell you about the things he bought for himself. I got a kick out of the fact he was trying to buy a shirt for going out with his girlfriend.

He bought two new pairs of blue jeans.
A nice new Red sweat shirt. That is a dress type one. And this is the one
for a date right now. But he wore it today.

The other shirts he was trying to buy were the wrong size, and he just
didn't like the other colors. So he is waiting.

A really neat hat, I had to make him try this one on for me. In pretense for
someone else. For him to realize it was neat.
Some nice new gloves.

A pair of new tennis shoes. That he wore to school today. But will
probably use more for basketball. Or will change and wear these to school
and his others to basketball.

And then the thing I got a kick out of. He was trying to please his dad.
When he picked out a pair of boots, and found out they were steel toe.
He said, oh I can work with dad in these. But this morning when he
put them on to wear to school, he fell back down in the seat. I'm not
sure he is going to be able to wear them. They also have a scratchy
back at the top. So unless he has on longer socks he wont wear them.

So its either wear longer socks and see if he can get used to them in
the house. Or return them for some boots that he can use for outside
and also to work with dad.

I'm personally thinking we will probably return them, and find another pair.

But I'll wait and see what he thinks.

Donna, you rock! You make your family rock!
Wow! How you've thought and planned so that not one person around you feels unremembered!
I wish for all of you to have all the happiness there is.

Thumbs up

Dear Donna,
That's amazing.
He likes showing people what they mean to him. I like him.
It sure sounds like he is detailed oriented and good at planning.

Thanks to you all. And yes he is detail orientated and things like that.

He does love to make sure everyone is remembered.

Donna

Just reading the minutes from announcements for his school. They have been doing a food drive. His class 1st hour has 7 mainly
special needs students. They placed 4th in the competion, they collected 173 cans of food.
