Sending good thoughts to your family. Hoping the police find the people before your family does. Donna:grouphug::hug: |
Abbie I am so sorry!
I am glad that the police have suspects. I pray that the criminals are prosecuted and go to jail and that they never do this to anyone else again. That is so unfair to your niece and nephew. Home should be a place where you feel safe. 6 & 8 is too young to lose your innocence that your home can be robbed. I'm sorry. |

Dear Abbie,
what a horrid way to end the year. I do hope 2013 is a MUCH better year for you and all your loved ones!! Glad that the insurance and police are both taking action to see justice done. I hope your sister's home is put back in order as soon as possible too, especially for the children's sake. I know what you mean about the peace of mind. We had a break in too once. Not as much was taken but the things that were were not only valuable but sentimental. I was 11ish and recall how eerie it was when mom and I came back home... a drawer open here, a cabinet there.... (we think we surprised them before they got to the whole house). Because when we got to our bedrooms everything was dumped out on the floor in mangled heaps... i remember freaking out. There was another incident with nothing taken but my mother was threatened and feared for her life and wellbeing. Commodities and fixtures can replaced or repaired, sentimental items are hard but they are things in the end. The sense of security, is indeed as you say, the greatest loss. My mother did not regain her footing for the longest time. sending peaceful thoughts to your family that they may find their way clear to heal from this horrible violation soon. love and hugs to you ~ waves ~ |
I found out today that the day of the school shooting in Connecticut that my 6 yr old niece overheard the bigger kids on the bus talking about the shooting.
When she got home my sister could tell that she appeared worried about something. My sister asked her. Her reply was.... Mommy what do I do if someone comes into my class and shoots & kills my teacher? My sister told her to lay flat on her stomach like she was sleeping and not to move at all not even an inch. I remember when we were in school that we had fire & tornado drills. But, I NEVER in my life dreamed we would have to have our kids go through some kind of terrorist drills!?!?!?!? School used to be a safe place!!!! What is happening to this country??? to this world??? |
Drill for "Lock for Down"
Abbie,
HUGS. I agree that we want our children to be happy and safe. Most schools do have drills in place in case of shooters. They probably have a name for it at your niece's school. My sister is a high school teacher. At her school, they call it "Lock Down." Lock Down means that there is someone on campus with a weapon. The teacher turns off the lights in the room and students move to get out of sight of the door. Other schools might call it something else. My sister says that her high school has been doing this for 10 years (After the 1999 Columbine shooting, schools came up with these plans.) They also practice for tornadoes. That drill is called "Tornado Drill." M |
Just checking in....
First I must apologize for my absence.
I know it has been a long time. Things on my end have not been good...far from it. 1-800-273-TALK is now on my speed dial. My therapist has me seeing him twice a week and calling him every day that I am not seeing him, plus he had me sign a safety contract. I can laugh and smile but those only last seconds...I am not happy. Am I sad? I don't know. I don't really feel anything. I am sorry this is a downer... I just wanted to let you all know that I am still alive. Abbie |
