with Bobby tonight. We were talking about his daughter letting go any further prosecution with her attacker of last year. The attacker has a mental illness. I've had conversations about this incident before with Bobby about his daughter and her attacker before. I told Bobby I know a lot about mental illness and that my mom had a mental illness. I told Bobby how I had to always care for my mom as a kid when she had episodes. I didn't have to share that with him but wanted to. I wanted him to know I know a lot about mental illness in case he wanted to pick my brain about it. I also wanted to ease in to some degree to let him know some of my history with mental illness. I didn't tell him I"ve been diagnosed with Bi-polar and don't plan on it unless him and I get serious. But I felt the need to test the waters with him before and if I do tell him about myself.

I also told Bobby when he spoke about learning how to be patient in the service how he has taught me to be patient by just knowing him.

Yes we get to pick and choose who we share this improtant fact about ourselves.
There is no set rule to this, you will jsut know when it is the right time.

Barbara what you did - testing the waters - is often a very important step. i'm glad you chose to do that. it was good of you to let Bobby know how he helped you with patience, too. often we (as humans all) complain when things are wrong, but forget to tell people what we appreciate about them. that was really wonderful of you.

Thank you Bizi and Waves. Waves, I am looking at this journey with Bobby as a learning experience for me so as I don't focus too much on his ill health. I'm sure it made him feel good when I told him how I learned patience from him. I'm so crazy about him that I want to make him feel good. And your right, so often we as humans just complain and forget to say what we like.
