Bizi,
How are you doing? Been thinking about you. Can't read the screen so it this is not typed right sorry. I also take Geodon and forget to take food with it as well. It is just something I never think og either. I'm not in the loop with ti yet agan. it hels me more than the seroqupel xr does. Don't blame you for not sharing that with the therapist either. Sometimes there is just a time and place for things with them. Totally get it. I learned a lesson about that this past year. Live and learn. It is good you have a friend to rely on to share stuff with. I have foudn a great friend too. It makes a difference. Hang in there!! Take care. Coffeegirl |
she wanted me to take it with dinner, a big meal and that interferred with my thinking.... i misplaced my credit card when that never happens and felt funny driving back from the gym so I take it at night like I have been for years......
thank you for thinking of me. bizi |
Dear Bizi
meds are supposed to improve our quality of life. that is their entire purpose. you tried taking the stuff with dinner. there were several problems with it, not just one: timing... consistency... impairment. that doesn't work. it improves your QOL a lot more if you take it at bed time, without food. that works for you. do what works. tell her when it works to do so, too. ;) you have been doing such a good job taking care of yourself and improving your life in so many ways. trying different things. making difficult changes. taking more responsibility. you deserve lots of kudos and chocolate kisses and squooshy hugs and festoons and sparkles in your hair. :):):) three cheers for Bizi! http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/party/party0002.gif http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/party/party0002.gif http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/party/party0002.gif love ~ waves ~ who is again very tired ... http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/expressive/zzz.gif |
you are such a good friend to me thank you waves.
((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))) love bizi |
Bizi
Its usually you just take a medicine with food. So I'm going to ask. Do you take the geodon with food at bedtime, you know just a small snack. Even a fruit or something that is light. This would solve the need of food. Donna:grouphug: |
Hi donna, no the literature says to take it with a meal...not just a piece of food, I thought it was to help with gi upset and I never had any so that is why I just took it at night.....one place suggested it be taken with a high fat meal....so the medication is better absorbed....wonder how much is actually absorbed me taking it this way? Maybe I am not getting any benefit from it????maybe I don't need it????
you are sweet. I take all of my meds at night. bizi |
Geodon

Dear Bizi and Coffeegirl: You are still getting some benefit from the Geodon without food. Without food you are getting half the dose you are supposed to. Waves will come by and check my math. Here is wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziprasi...ckage_insert-6 Quote:
. . . just information. I'm not advising. :) M. |
some math
Hi.... ;) there seems to be varying information on the Geodon absorption with food... if i get a chance i'll check the Wiki notes that say 50% and give feedback... could be just different studies are reporting different data, you know?
the stuff i looked up earlier did not show such a high difference.... here is part of my post from earlier thread: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsa...483s003lbl.pdf Quote:
AUC is area under the curve. the "curve" is the graph of drug-level against time. the curve generally goes up fast and comes down slow... the shape depends on the med. the "area" between the curve and the axes of the graph, is a decent general indicator of total coverage by a single dose of the med. 13% higher essentially means you must have consistently slightly more in your blood than without food. it would not be 50% increase in blood level, otherwise AUC would shoot up much more than 13%. there are other factors which affect how this data is interpreted, so we cannot be more precise than that. i have "assumed" (mostly because i seem to remember reading it but am too rushed to go check) that geodon absorption is linear within normal dosing range - this means if you take 2ce as much, you absorb 2ce as much under the same conditions. (this is not true for all drugs, eg Neurontin). also, we don't know the exact "shape" of that curve (AUC). there are more factors even but i don't want to clutter things up and confuse everyone. ~ waves ~ |

christine, I am sorry you are having to suffer with these physical symptoms, and with the mental anguish as well as the frustration of it all.
You are dealing with a lot! 2 days ago I interveined in a patients care and got all emotional, crying over her. It was an over reaction I know it now....I am feeling pressured again, have said some things that I felt compelled to say, may get negative reprocussions for it...will have to wait and see. ( I started yesterday so PMS in a big way) That whole feeling of compulsion is a sign that I am getting into trouble. I am getting controlling, obcessive, ruminating.....I took my geodon with my dinner last night and it made me not beable to focus on my paperwork and then it made me anxious, restless, could not read my favorite book.... I woke up this morning at 5am from a dream that I was in a mental hospital...I have never done that before and it scared me. It made me afraid of losing my job...I don't ever want to be hospitalized again. Ever! I feel better today...glad to say that. I feel like me, 2 cups of coffee helped a lot as I did not get back to sleep after my dream...I rescheduled a client this morning to this afternoon so I could get myself together. Saturday, I had my hair cut shorter and am trying to get used to it, all of the perm is gone now so it is very straight, will try to get hubby to take a picture of it and post it later. bizi |
