Lily the Black Bear gave birth to her cub on Jan 22, 2010. You can watch the two of them here. Right now they are sleeping so not much to see, but I can hear them.

We can watch:

1. in a large man made enclosure: Honey and Lucky in their little man-made structure. Honey gets out and walks around then comes back in and settles down for sleep. She is restless. Sometimes they get annoyed with each other-- especially if one of them has a toy.

2. in the wild: Lily and Faith -- Faith was born to mother Lily a year ago. She still tries to nurse sometimes;

3. in the wild: Jewel and her two tiny un-named cubs were born about two and a half weeks ago.

(Right now it is 5 degrees F in Ely Minnesota. It warms up a little in the day.)
I like watching and listening to the bears sleep at night. Honey especially is noisy when she sleeps. Her breathing is calming somehow.


I like to watch and listen to Honey sleep. The bear center should get a recording so they can sell it to people like me.
