Default A hello and update from Just Jacquie

She wanted me to post this -

Quote-
[My daughter, on her birthday yesterday, had a major car accident and is still in the hospital. No broken bones, but she needed surgery to close the huge gaping wound on her left knee - she was trapped in the car. I am headed out now to try to re-buy her the clothes that they had to cut off of her - it was a brand new outfit she bought herself for her birthday. Then it will be off to the hospital....
BTW, i don't mind if you let them know on the forum about all of this -
Gotta run for now --- Hugs, Jacquie ]

Thanks you guys - Curious, bizi, Mari, and especially you Diane. Bless your heart, for all you're going through....

We brought her home today. She is getting around okay, but she needs some more practice on those crutches .

This may seem unbelievable to you, but I just came back to this site the other day from work, and thought to myself..."so this is where everyone has been hanging out! " Then I found Di's thread about her daughter, I feel so bad, I had no idea what was going on. I spend a major part of my job at disability reading off the computer screen, and it's hard to spend very much more time when I am finally home for the night! So, I haven't been anywhere lately, but know where I have 'found' you guys, what little time I do spend on forums, I will spend HERE! In fact, I will re-post a thread that I put there a just few days ago!

I will be staying home from work again tomorrow w/ Andrea, since she sometimes needs help in the bathroom, getting dressed, etc. So I will be around at least for the next 3 days!

I'm so glad I've found you guys Jacquie

Such a frightening experience. I am so greatful she survived.

Let her know the pain does start to let up eventually, but it's gonna be a rough haul. (I rolled my vehicle before Christmass and I am still having some groovy pain.) But it will get better.

I hope she is home from the hospital and her knee surgery went very well.

Bless you both and no more excitement!

Default Thankful

Thankful only the car was seriously damaged. I had a major accident a few years ago. Totaled my daughter-in-law's car. She only had two payments left on it too.

She had insisted that I take her car that night neither of us know why. It would have been my car otherwise, hers was a saturn and it really has all those extras in the doors and air bags.

If it wasn't for those, I wouldn't have walked away. Like she said it was only a car. Her first concern is was I all right. Shaken, battered, bruised, but all right.

I am still having some flashbacks when I drive down that road at certain times of day but it is getting alot better. At least I'm not going into panic attacks anymore. I just use the lights whenever I'm on that stretch of road instead of trying to turn into a parking lot in the middle of the road.

I'd post about the abilify but I can't remember why my other can't use it. He either had one of two reactions to it. He either got violent on it or retained alot of water. He was on it about the time they thought he had heart failure due to the pitting adema. I can't remember which medication they finally figured out caused the fluid retention. It wasn't supposed to do it, but seems that he was the one in 1000 or more that it did do that to.

He's either had the got violent reaction to his meds or the retaining fluid side effect. Otherwise they work. I'm thinking it was the fluid retention. I lost the paper I wrote what he can't take on. I can't get his doctor to give a copy of it either. Something to do with the new hippa laws.

Congrats on the birthday and the new outfit. I haven't bought anything new in quite awhile. Maybe if I was thinner . . . like my daughter. (size 1 I hate her sometimes lol, can eat a gallon of icecream and not gain weight, I wear a 20).

Hi J - Thank God your daughter is okay. It must of been awful being stuck in the car, what a birthday. Glad she is home. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Crutches can be tough.

Are you getting my emails?

Hugs, Nikko
