Question Question for any and all!!!

A few days ago my husband came and said that he thought I had had a bipolar shift I went crazy on him. I told him that I had never felt better and that things were fine. This morning he said why he feels the way he does again. I guess I am spending a lot of money, I am not sleeping, I have way too much energy, you can not shut me up and I talk about nothing and change the subject all the time, I am also irritable, he is concerned because I have stopped taking my fainting medicine because I do not think it works I also do not think the doctors know what they are doing. He said that I have no attention span any longer, said that I am incapable of completing a task. I normally write about a half a page a day in my journal now we are up to 3 pages a day. There were other things on the list but these were the major ones. I have been diagnosed with bipolar I and am being treated for that. ? is does anyone think I have had a shift or is my husband just over reacting?

Sounds very much like you have had a shift as you call it.

I would definately get ahold of your therapist or doctor. And see if
you can get a appointment to talk about this. I don't know what
they had you taking for the fainting, but it sounds very much like
it might have been doing something completely different for you than
it was prescribed.

It also sounds like it might be a maniac type attack if that makes sense.
At least that is what my sister would say she is in. And I know that
she would definately get ahold of her doctor about either taking more
of one of her medicines or adding something. But she has been doing
this for years.

Please because your husband is seeing this let your doctor know.
He is doing a very good job of being your eyes and ears when you
can't do it.

yes you sound hypomanic which can turn to mania real fast. You need to be seen by your pdoc (psychiatrist) to discuss this...one of your meds may have acted as a mood stabilizer....
keep us posted.

Default thoughts

for the most part, i agree with the others that you could easily be hypo: you listed a lot of changes and the fact that your husband thinks those changes are significant is important because he knows what is "normal" for you and can notice differences.

i would like to add, though, that in your first few posts here, you sounded really down and out. anything but "extra happy." my concern here is that your mood quality may be low, while your energy etc may be high... i.e. there may be mixed features to this hypomania. please let your pdoc know the bad feelings are there too, even though it is situational, because it is still relevant to any medication tweaks s/he may want to make.

finally, i interpreted one thing in your post differently than how Donna and Beth did, i think. what i understood you to be saying was that, your husband perceived your suspension of your fainting drugs as a symptom of this "shift" rather than a determining cause. Dunno how long you had been on those meds, but i was thinking they may even have contributed to this shift. anyway, please talk to your pdoc about these meds too. your pdoc can probably figure out if they played a role either way - please tell him exactly what you were taking, and also when you stopped, also when the changes started. hopefully your husband can help you narrow down when your mood started to "shift."

please call pdoc ASAP, and take care!!!

HI,

The fainting meds were keeping you done.
Now you might be a bit up.

Your husband probably has observed you up and down for a while now.
Trust him.

Good luck. Call the pdoc.

You are right, it can be that too.
For the fainting medicine.

I wasn't sure how to post that either.

Default Thank you!!!

Barbara,
I am about the same as I was. I see My Psych Doc on Monday, so hopefully she can take care of this! I wrote all I am feeling down so I do not forget to tell her anything. I also have in there about still being very depressed along with the super high. My Godfather died on Monday so my mother and I had to go to the three day funeral services, that only made things worse. Thank you for taking the time to ask how I am doing!
