oh good i hope she continues to do well. :)

bizi 05-17-2010 06:35 PM

now she is not so good, she is breathing so hard thru her nose which is all congested...you would think she would just breath thru her mouth but she is not....:(
I really feel for her
vet said to stop antibiotics not helping ....to force 8cc of pedilyte in her thru out this evening and take her temp and go from there tomorrow if still not eating bring her in.
I hate to say this but some cats don't recover from this....

waves 05-17-2010 07:05 PM

all you can do is care for her the best you can, and hope for the best. you are doing a really good job. you are a good kitty-nurse. and we are all hoping with you and continue to send good kitty vibes your way. :o

Harriet

Bizi,
You tell Harriet I said I hope she feels better and to continue getting well so her mommy can stop worrying!

collinsc:hug:

bizi 05-20-2010 09:16 AM

I was able to use a syringe to give her some pedialyte and water and antibiotic last night and then this morningn all by myself so that was good.
10cc is only 2 teaspoons but it is better than nothing!
who knows if she ate anything or drank anything last night??? and we will be gone all day so....she is sleeping/breathing easy right now so she tolerated her new antibiotic.:)
thank you for your continued support!

bizi 05-20-2010 11:17 PM

Well I have really mixed emotions tonight.
Jeff left this morning and won't be home till saturday...I really don't do well when he is gone...and now to have a sick harriet....
I got so upset....
It did not make sense to me that we were to only feed her 1-2 teaspoons twice a day...those were our instructions....
so I called the vets office and asked them about that and was told that was not what we should be doing.
we were supposed to give her 2/3 of a can a day.
to feed her as often as she would let us.
that is what they did at the vets office 3 people took turns feeding her. no wonder she came back happy she had been fed!
So I felt horrible only feeding her so little and felt like a fool, I should have figured out to feed her more often, common sense should have told me that.
so I made up a lot of cat food and gave her 20 cc 's of it all at once and she gagged. and then growled at me...so I called the vets office to tell them what happened and if she growled at them...no
then she explained how to feed her alittle bit then let her swollow then give her a little more etc. again that is common sense...no i was giving the whole amount as quickly as I could I almost drowned her.....:(
I felt terrible...I did not know how to feed her...
I felt terrible...
so tonight I get her and try to give her small amounts like they said and she starts growling again...but I manage to get 10 ccs down her minus the small amount that came drooling out.
she growls and I need to give her the other 10 cc's...so I just held the towel tightly and force fed her.
I hated it.....
she growled and again the drooling of small amount but at least she got most of it.
I apologized to her profusely and I cried my eyes out...I am so afraid that she will not make it.....:(

then she gave herself a bath...so that was encouraging.
sigh
I am not good at this.

Mari 05-20-2010 11:36 PM

Dear Beth,

You are doing a good job.
You had enough sense to call the vet's office -- that was good.
Harriet will get used to your system and stop growling.

She'll be a happy kittie soon.
That's good news that after she ate she gave herself a bath. http://bestsmileys.com/cats2/1.gif

I was able to get her anti biotic and some cat food down her:)

Dmom3005 05-21-2010 05:43 PM

Bizi
You will get the hang of this.

I've got a feeling she was growling because she thought you were
going to try to get it all down her again.

So just take your time again.

Donna

bizi 05-21-2010 06:21 PM
